Gonzalez's selection lifts OSU to top spot

When Anthony Gonzalez slipped underneath the coverage yesterday to become the last first-round pick of the NFL draft -- the longest first round ever, at 6 hours, 8 minutes -- he pushed Ohio State to the top of a list. The Buckeyes now are No. 1 in all-time No. 1s.

With Gonzalez, taken by the Super Bowl champion Indianapolis Colts, joining fellow junior receiver Ted Ginn Jr., who was taken by the Miami Dolphins at No. 9, the Buckeyes' total of first-round draft choices moved to 66. That's one more than Southern California, which was shut out in the opening round.

it's interesting that since 1995, notre ame has had only 4 first round picks, with none of those 3 going higher than 19th. actually, it's not all that interesting. it's unsurprising.

ESPN had a graphic yesterday that showed that OSU has had (now) 13 1st rounders taken since 2000. That put us in 2nd place behind Miami with an incredible 24.
