Illinois is weak on offense, especially against a zone. If the Bucks control Meachem, they have little perimeter scoring.
Unless the Bucks have a big case of BT opener jitters, I would expect a fairly easy win.
I don't think anything will come "easy" for the young Bucks on the road in the Big 10 this season.
Rebound rebound rebound!

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Coming up: at Illinois and Northwestern

Where: Champaign, Ill., and Value City Arena
When: 8 p.m. Thursday and noon Sunday
TV: ESPN and Big Ten Network
Radio: WBNS-AM (1460), WBNS-FM (97.1) -- Thursday only
The week that was

No one used the 11 a.m. tip-off as an excuse, but coach Thad Matta noted it looked to him as if the Buckeyes defense lacked "juice" in a 92-83 victory over Maryland-Baltimore County on Saturday. The Retrievers made 17 three-pointers, a record for an OSU opponent, against a zone that had been limiting opponents to 27 percent behind the arc. Fortunately for Ohio State, it had what it needed at the other end, complementing 49 percent shooting from the field with a season-high 26 free throws in 31 attempts.

Just a thought so please don't jump on me too hard:)

If we are going to continue to play the zone, I won almost like us to go 4 small (Lighty, JD, Turner, Butler) and play one big. I realize that it will probably hurt us even more (not sure how much more we can be hurt) on the offensive boards but I think in some way that could help us on the defensive boards. Quite a few of the rebounds against a zone defense usually go along (some even hit the floor) and I think quickness would be more of an asset in that type of situation. I don't know maybe I am grasping at straws but I liked the way our defense played the last couple minutes of the Maryland-Baltimore game.

Anyone know if Randle is playing tonight...He got hurt in the Tenn. St. game and missed the entire second half...

It will be all about us controlling the boards, shooting the ball well, and putting a ton of pressure on their backcourt, because they are very weak there, and not letting meachum get open looks...

This morning's Dispatch noted that it was unlikely he would play. Good break for the Bucks if he can't go.
