II'd really like another person to re-watch the game and see if they see the same things.....I'm not calling this guy Tim Donaghy, but if he was trying to pull a Tim Donaghy, he did it perfectly. Except the Bucks got some calls from the other two guys down the stretch.
It wasn't just you, I noticed it too...particularly the palming (that Harris, who's a helluva player by the way, got away with twice I believe) and the myriad out of bounds calls. I have no issue with the travel call on Evan as it was a travel, but the out of bounds stuff was beyond ridiculous.

First off it's all about the beard

It can't be said how nice it is to win a road game in the Big10 against a quality opponent like scUM with the celebration of their national title team taking place.

Despite Evan and Diebler struggling from the field the rest team shot the basketball as well as you could ask them. 54% from the field should be good enough to win every game. Good patience on offense and we didn't get settle for bad 3's. Team took some lumps in the game and they dealt with the adversity.

Evan needs props for knocking his free throws down the stretch and not giving the weasels a glimmer of hope.

Turner and JD struggled and the freshman stepped up tonight. Mullens had an excellent game and Buford had some nice steals on defense and good game on offense.

The things that bothered me are realizing that yes is this big ten and the whistle isn't going to get blown every trip down the court we've got to a better job of getting to the free throw line especially Simmons. Rebounding still need works.

I honestly think this was one of the best offensive "style" games they have played. The only thing that hurt was Jeremie out with foul trouble. Of course it helps playing a much smaller team, but I thought the shot selection and movement was much better. Still some stupid mistakes, but overall nice job. This would have been a 10+ point game minus the refs and Jeremie in more.

For someone who DVR'd the game and feels like checking it out, go back and watch referee Antonio Petty's performace.

Unreal.

Antinio Petty Officiating Schedule - College Basketball Referee

Have to give you some major credit in noting that the officiating variance was largely due to one of the whistles.
Great find on the stats for Petty. From the Stats Tab on the Petty stat sheet.com chart, it doesn't look like this guy is necessarily antiOSU or pro TSUN just wants to placate the crowd.
The first tab reveals his "Homer bias"!
Antinio Petty - College Basketball Referee
This year "his" home teams have won at nearly a +14 point margin.
Just a coincidence or endemic process?
Over his 13 year career and 492 officiating jobs, home teams have won by a +10 margin.
The standard deviation of fouls called is high but not noticably at variance favoring home vs. visiting teams.
The +14 margin of victory must come from other factors like Billmac noted,
turnovers, out of bounds calls, etc.

The other 2 refs seem to realize about a 5-6 point advantage for the home team (probably about what home court actually gives you). This guy definately seems to be a homer.

From the bottom of the game recap:

Ohio State vs. Michigan - Recap - January 17, 2009 - ESPN

The Wolverines donned blue jerseys matching the design Rice and his teammates wore when they won the championship in Seattle.

Mullens wondered why he and his Ohio State teammates were wearing white jerseys on the road.

"I thought it was just a football-type thing," he said. "It feels good to know they had a parade and we won."

From the Toledo Blade:

Most, but not all, of the players from that UM team were at Crisler Arena yesterday. Absent, though, were the Wolverines' two head coaches in 1988-89 - Bill Frieder and Steve Fisher. Frieder ... was not invited for yesterday's reunion according to the Ann Arbor News. Fisher, Frieder's replacement, was invited but did not attend.
:slappy::slappy::slappy::slappy:

Can you feature a circumstance in which Ohio State coaches would not have attended a celebration of a past national championship? This speaks volumes about the relationship of The Harvard Of The West with its former coaches.

Once again, just glad to be a Buckeye.
