Great all around effort today by everyone. I thought KK really turned it on in the 2nd half and the defensive intensity was fantastic for the majority of the game. Terwilliger didn't shy away from 3's (which I had hoped he would), but he was hitting which was nice.

This game reaffirmed to me that we need guys like Lighty and Butler to continue to drive to the basket and not settle for outside shots. Lighty was taking the ball in deep for the majority of the game and I think our offense can really flow with that type penetration.

Damn! If we knew you were that desperate for a win, we could have shaved even more points.:biggrin:

And congratulations....

(fwiw, we aren't expecting a national, conference, or division win this year. Just trying to let Billy coach up the youngsters for a late run at a tourney spot if the starts are aligned....next year)

Five Things We Learned Today (12/22/07) vs. Flahridah

1. Kosta Koufos is fun to watch when he is pissed off. Note: what exactly did Thad Matta do to help Kosta grow a sack at halftime? This could be a topic for medical research.

2. Jon Diebler can play a hell of a game even when he is 1-for-3 from the foul line. Great game by the Diebs!

3. Flahridah sucks. This team is so inferior to the competition they will face in the SEC it is silly. From what I have seen from KY, the SEC will have a seriously down year. Tennessee should be the favorite. Vandy has a real chance to win the whole shooting match as well.

4. Jai Lucas is fun to watch. Looks just like his old man! By the time he is a senior (no way he leaves early), he'll be a fine collegiate point guard.

5. Apparently the referees were hired from the sheltered workshop. Possibly the worst officiated basketball game I have ever attended. This seems to be a trend this season. Yeesh! Not claiming bias toward the Gaytors; bad calls in both directions. But based on Flahridah's play, they brought not so much a basketball team as a dance squad. Strauss should have been playing over the loudspeakers if a team were to be allowed to waltz like that.

Unlike what a certain troll who shall remain nameless would claim, Diebs is more than just a guy who ran up the scores in High School. the kid can play.....

The SEC is, at best a 5 bid league right now.

The refereeing in college basketball has been horrible for years. The insurance salesmen and bankers they hire to do their officiating in the NCAA is an embarrassment. They can't keep up with the action and it sometimes seems some of them don't even know the rules of the game.....
