Hrm... well, the kids dug themselves in one helluva hole to start off the game, I was impressed they climbed back into it, would have loved the win, but they showed they aren't going to give up which is good to know. After the loss to Purdue, I was hoping we would pull this one out.

The difference was the overall experience factor (in the 2nd half)

MSU didn't get anything from one of their big guns....so others stepped up....

KK didn't get Ohio State much tonight (that happens), but Ohio State had issues getting someone other than Hunter and Butler going (Lighty and Turner did some, but it was a bit inconsistent).....

If you had told me before the game that we would only lose by 6 at Sparty then I wouldn't have been that disappointed. Coming back from a twenty point deficit in the first half and playing Sparty even in the second half in their gym shows that our Bucks can play with the big dogs. We just need to get rid of these 7-8 minute scoring droughts that come up in every big game.

IMO this game had nothing to do with MSU being a better team...We were the better team out there IMO...

We came out of the gates and played like we were scared...We forget about any offensive scheme, We can't rebound, we can't get lose balls, we force too many shots...

Just a frustrating game all the way around...

I continue to see things that I really like:

PJ hill and his defense, and he has some ability to get into the lane which he showed tonight...I hope that we continue to see him get more minutes...

I like what I have seen out of Twig, we all know what we are going to get with him, but he is showing senior leadership out on the floor and isn't rattled out there like KK and Hunter always seem to be and actually sets hard screens, and his ability to run the pick and pop effectively help us spread the floor on the offense, and actually allows butler to get open looks...

Butler's shooting has been out of this world...I wish that he would go inside the 3 point line more often because they give that to him, they just try to stop him from hitting the 3, and that would also allow for him to create for other guys...

I like Turner and Diebler's aggressiveness and they really play hard on defense especially Turner...Then Diebler's understanding of the game and where to be at on the court and finding ways to get open...

Now onto the things that are killing us, and they are correctable I do believe...

Diebler's shooting...He found his shot there at one point, but now he is struggling again...Lets hope that he finds it again soon, because that would really help the offense...

Lighty...I think Lighty is a very good player, but his play of late is reminding me of the way that a frosh would play...He is forcing shots, he is turning the ball over, not getting in position on defense...Things that we should not have to worry about with him...The first two points of the game where he turned the corner and took the ball to the hoop were great, but that was about the only time when he looked smooth on the offensive end...I think for this team to go to the next level Lighty needs to step up and play like a vet...

Turner's to's...Yes he is a frosh and yes they are to be expected, but they just seem to come at the worst time...Run killers, when we really need a basket, etc...The thing with him is he can't get his head down...I saw it go down when he dribbled the ball off his foot and then Matta pulled him...

KK...What the heck happened since his game against Cuse'...He only wants to hang around the perimeter, he won't use his midrange game from 15 and in, that is where I think he can be the most effective...He doesnt recognize the double team in the post, and is positioning on defense is down right terrible...

O...He couldnt hang on to the ball he forced bad shots...We also need Hunter to just play solid and within himself, at times he tries to do too much...

Why no Wallace, just for a couple minutes...

I know this probably comes across as a lot of bitching, but we are just so close to going to the next level and if we just play within ourselves tonight I do believe that we win this game...I would love to see us go to UT and knock them off..

Can't say I'm suprised by the loss, disappointed yes, but not suprised. I was very proud of the young Bucks in the way they fought back from 20 points down. That showed good leadership, coaching and heart in that hostile environment.

This team not only needs to find a third scorer, they need to find a consistent second scorer. With their inability to score on a consistent basis, they have to defend and rebound for 40 minutes or against quality opposition they will probably not win.

They really need KK and JD give them something, Lighty and Turner are both showing improvement getting to the rim and finishing and Hunter is starting to show some senior spark, but they have to get a couple guys to hep JB, or while I'll be proud of the effort, I'm afraid I'll be sad at the outcome.

The more and more I watch Koufas I dont think he is going to the NBA next year. At this point I dont think he would stand a chance in the NBA. When we play good opponents he usually struggles. Would be sick if he stays next year with Mullins. Koufas/Mullins with Crater, Lighty, Turner, Diebler, Buford, Wallace, Hill, Offut all making contributions...... DEPTH

I agree with a lot of your points CB40 and I'd like to add a few myself:

Tonight I saw a lot of guys looking out of control. That could be the experience factor, nerves etc. Right now we don't look like a very good passing team, way too much dribbling around. We get guys in lanes and dribble to a point without having a purpose. There are open guys flashing to the basket, elbow or baseline that are getting missed because a guy is dribbling the perimeter without a purpose.

Diebler and Turner are both playing good defense but they arent finishing plays right now. Diebler plays good D and gets good position but doesnt box out and guys are out jumping or hustling him for rebounds. Turner is everywhere with his energy on defense but he's playing a bit out of control. The steal at the top of the key where he and Butler were breaking out for a 2on1 to cut it to 4 points late would've been a clutch play. But he's out of control with the ball right now. Thats not a new development unfortunately.

Where is Kosta Koufos?? He's the invisible man lately and theres been no explanation. Maybe theres an injury we dont know about. Maybe he's tired from playing competitively all year. We need him. He has to come out of his rut and very soon.

Othello Hunter is the only player that acts like he wants to own the paint. 40 is right in Othello appears to press at times both offensively and defensively, probably feels its necessary with no one helping him underneath. I'd like to see more Lauderdale from time to time with O in the game.

Butler is going to collapse at some point. He's been carrying this team on his back and its a beautiful thing to see, but he needs help in a hurry. Anyone remember the year Darby had? Same situation I'm afraid unless someone helps him out. I'm very impressed with the improvement of PJ Hill as well. His drives to the hoop surprised me and I'd like to see more of that with someone else crashing to the hoop with him.

It just seems like these guys lose their poise at times out there which will happen with the youngsters. I'm proud of the way they came back tonight though so its not all a negative out of this game. MSU is a tough team and at their place is a good win for anybody. The hustle seems to be there overall, which is a good thing, they just dont all seem to be on the same page with the directions they go sometimes.

Free throws...............:sick1:
