Am I the only person that thinks Paterno is pretty much just a mascot. I just don't think that he is actually coaching as much as they make peole believe. He has been there forever and they just don't want to force him out.

FWIW Joe asked to coach from his home in the off-season. Literally, he asked if for practices he could stay home.

So yes, he is nothing more than figure-head. It's been talked about in the Joe Paterno thread.
