THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
Game preview

OHIO STATE VS. SAMFORD

Noon today
? Where: Value City Arena
? TV: Big Ten Network
? Radio: WBNS-AM (1460)
? Records: Ohio State 2-0; Samford 3-1
? Matchup to watch: Samford runs the Princeton offense also employed by Northwestern, a reason the Bulldogs are on the Buckeyes' nonconference schedule. Ohio State had trouble its first two games communicating and rotating properly in its zone defense.
? Notable: Ohio State was ranked last in the Big Ten in scoring (65.5 points per game) and first in scoring defense (49.5) before yesterday's games. Evan Turner, David Lighty and William Buford were among the top four in steals per game. Samford has made 59.3 percent of its shots inside the three-point arc and 39.5 percent outside it. Ohio State and Samford have played once before, an 80-62 Buckeyes victory on Dec. 13, 2003, in Value City Arena. Samford, located in Birmingham, Ala., moved to the Southern Conference this season from the Ohio Valley.
? Next: at University of Miami (ACC-Big Ten Challenge), 7 p.m. Tuesday

"I'm excited about the money," Tillette said of his second visit to OSU. "It's what you have to do at our level. It's a nice place to play. Hopefully it won't be snowing too heavily. We'll go play and hopefully improve."
