1st Half Thoughts...

Film will not be fun for the first half...
- Braxton...D grade for 1st quarter. Solid B for early 2nd quarter...C/C- for 2 minute drill. Missed some run reads and threw a few poor balls early. Great recovery due to...
- Carlos Hyde...his 2nd and 3rd efforts got this offense rolling. Hyde opened the PA game and settled a 'trying too hard' QB
- Devin Smith...wow. Now become a presence and not a flash.
- Philly Brown...welcome to the show.
- DL...you are in a tough spot with the scheme. Pin your ears back and get the hands up...
- LBs...nothing crosses 2nd level clean. Talk Coach Fick into cutting you loose a few times...
- Secondary...Bradley Roby excluded...wake up and communicate. Better angles, better tackling and tell the DL to help you out some. Miami drops are saving you...
- Last play didn't work...but the table has been set. I love the call.

With a little bit of luck, Fredo might have been ahead at the half. That said, some of those drops were "assisted" by Buckeye defenders. I guess what I saw was a different Buckeye team tripping over themselves and then gaining some composure. We'll get a better idea of how good they are when the second half is over.

Loved the call to go for it, too bad he came up an inch short. Hopefully they come out swinging and focused for the 2nd half.

Halftime commentary on PSU and Ohio. PSU "looks a lot like the Patriots". Uh, maybe Ohio is over-rated a bit?

The defense on the other hand looks rather shaky. Very vanilla, lots of lost assignments, 210 yards given up, and if not for Miami dropped passes it could easily be 14 or 17 points and even more yards. I would say that is about a D.

C- is about right.
The two minute drill probably keeps it from a C+....big plays don't necessarily wipe out the ineptitude we saw the first 3 drives of the game. Something for them to work on for sure.
