Game Thread Ohio State 56, Miami of Ohio 10 (Sept 01, 2012)

If you have Dish, prepare to watch the game somewhere else. Dish is going to drop the BTN on Sept. 1.

I called Dish about this last night, since the B10 network was running a crawl during the Wiscy replay about Dish dropping them.

I was told in no uncertain terms that they were NOT going to be dropping the network, and that I had absolutely nothing to worry about. It sounds like they had received a lot of calls, and I am certain the representative was reading from a cue sheet on that subject.

Now, they can tell me that all they want, but until I turn the game on and it is there, I will not be convinced. It did sound hopeful however.

If it is not on Dish, I am up a "very brown and smelly" creek however. I will be way up in Northern Michigan, and plan to take my receiver with me up to hunting camp to watch the game. It is at least a half hour to a bar from there, and it is certainly not a sure thing that a bar up there would have the Buckeyes on, even if they have a provider that is carrying it.

If I miss this first game, after all the anticipation and waiting for the season to start, I will be one unbelievably upset Dish customer. You can screw with other channels, but not the ones that carry the Buckeyes!!!

Go Bucks. Let's get this party started!!!

Thanks, I hope you're right. I didn't get around to calling them yet, just saw it it posted like you did and read it on a few articles after a quick google search. Just thought I'd send out a warning if they do drop it. If I don't get the game I'm going to be p!$$ed!

I would encourage everyone who has Dish to call. It is important for them to know how important it is for them to carry this channel.

I have been a subscriber of Dish seemingly forever (probably at least 14 years) and if they mess with my Ohio State football I may have to send them packing in favor of, God forbid, a cable provider. That is how I started out my call last night, and based on the rep's response, it was not the first time she had heard that.

Go Bucks!!!

I was moving at the time BTN initially launched and Time Warner Cable was dragging their feet on carrying it. I was planning on switching providers post-move regardless because Time Warner sucks, but when I called to cancel and they asked why I said it was because they weren't planning on carrying BTN.

They actually called back at some point to let me know that they were going to carry BTN and to ask if I would reconsider.

Time Warner got the message pretty quickly along with every other provider in central Ohio as far as I know.

Keep on calling- it works.

I think you'll find the people at DISH to be ALOT more receptive to feedback and change than the people at Time Warner/Comcast...etc

I don't like their coverage or networks, but my experience with their customer service has been good.

I just got off the phone with Dish. About halfway through the conversation the guy said, "Let me guess, you're an Ohio State fan." That was right after I told him I live outside the Big Ten footprint and have to pay for a special sports package to get BTN on Dish, and the only part of the package I care about is BTN. He also said he understood my switching if they didn't get this worked out before Saturday. Said he was a sports fan and would feel the same way if it was his team. Actually a pretty good conversation. Now let's see if Dish gets the message.

Several of those who are instrumental to the previews are unable to participate this year. We will reassess next year; but for now, the previews are on hiatus.
As someone who doesn't know anything to contribute to take anyone's place I'm disappointed but I understand. Always was interested and something to get through game week. You won't by chance be running your By The Numbers section anywhere else are you? It was probably my favorite part.
