Ohio State 55, North Carolina 66 (Final)

No real secret as to why shots weren't falling. Tarholes are simply a far superior squad.
Better with Lawson? Yes. But far superior? Not by a long shot. Consider this: At the end of the Buckeyes cold 0-17 shooting streak in the second half they were only down by 14 points. If they hit only 30% of those shots (which is on par with their shooting for the rest of the game) that translates to 10 points and are only down by 4 with plenty of game left to be played.

Yes it's an "ifs and buts" argument but it does show that this team can and will play with high competition this year.

I completely agree that the Buckeyes will play highly competitive hoop this season, and it wouldn't shock me if they were to win the B11 yet again. This doesn't change my opinion that North Carolina is a far superior team to tOSU. They beat us convincingly, in Columbus, without their point guard. QED.

Saying the Tarholes are far superior isn't a slam on the Buckeyes, since the Tarholes are far superior to most other teams in the country. Only a few teams can hang with UNC, assuming they play reasonably close to their potential. I'd include aTm on the list; I think we've lost to two top-5 teams so far.

I think maybe we have discrepancy on how we would define far superior, but a team that we were within 4 points of, with 4 minutes left to play and we shot 27% when we all know it is not unreasonable for us to shoot at 40-45% night in and night out, does not make them far superior...And we are only going to get better...

UNC is good, but not unbeatable by any stretch...

first no one has mentioned the intro. whoever came up with that  that was big time "lights off" the tar heels looked around like wtf. (though actually the lights didnt get shut off, the blinders covered the pods. way cool.

It was superb. Actually got the fans into the game before the game started.

A lot of folks touched on the 2nd half scoring....by my recollection of the 2nd half:

First 14 minutes - 10 points
Next 2 minutes - 11 points
Final 4 minutes - 2 points

:sick1:

I am back in South Africa, having watched this game at a UNC faculty member's home in Chapel Hill.

Our guys are young and still building their confidence. I'd like to see the outcome if the teams were to meet later in the year.
