Ohio State 50, Wisconsin 55 (Final)

WE are a team of Freshman and Soph and yes they do play like it. But some nights they impress us with their play. It's not easy to go into Madison and win.
Some of you guys expect perfection from all the players , well it's not going to happen.
Sure it's frustrating at times but that is no reason to be so negative.
I don't like to lose either but I refuse to put this loss , or any other on one player, it's a team game.
Go Bucks

Wisconsin, making ugly basketball look good since 2002. Goddammit, I fucking hate Wisconsin! It's not so bad, we still control our destiny to finish no worse than 3rd in the conference, which will get us a good seed in the conference tourney and should get us in the NCAA. We should have won that game. Wisky shot like shit, and we didn't get the ball to our scorers when we needed to. Fuck! I'm still pissed about that count the basket-give them possession call. I talked to a friend who used to be an AAU coach at halftime, and he didn't understand the call. It doesnt matter now, we have to win some big games. If we beat ILL, we should be a lock for the NCAA. It would have been a lot cooler if we would have won, but it didn't happen. Here's hoping the team uses this as motivation to win out the rest of the schedule. Go Buckeyes!!!

You can apparently get away with 36.5% shooting if you get 14 offensive rebounds. :smash:

Pretty much. Maybe Thad should put BJ and Dallas in the game at the same time a little more often. The 2-3 zone, combined with the four guards, really puts this team at a disadvantage on the boards.

I don't know about that either, the teams we've played recently have been all about the 3, and honestly, against MSU we had them both in and they still got pushed around. That's the main reason I have for making BJ stay here, he's still not dominant on the glass and it's best if he learns now.

Honestly, that might have been our most pathetic performance all year, minus the Illinois game. I really was disappointed in our effort...players just stood around waiting for Turner to make a play, or Bufford. We had no real offensive motion and nobody fought to get open looks. We got killed on the boards and the shame is we played great defense. If there was high effort anywhere tonight, it was on D...if only we had that much effort on offense. Wisconsin shoot such a low % because we were in their faces all night long. I've said this before, but we need to get Diebler looks that don't involve him simply trying to run away from the defender and shoot as soon as he gets it. No Diebler = no consistency on offense. It also means Turner realizes he has to do it all, which = mass turnovers. I realize we are young and at a hostile environment, but sloppy and unenthused play like we saw tonight is just unacceptable. Also, where is Lauderdale?

The incredibly high field goal percentage for the Buckeyes and turnovers kind of went hand and hand. They were trying to pound it inside and penetrate hard because Wisconsin has a smallish, soft front line. When they could make their move 1-on-1 with the big before the help side defense came, the result was usually a big. But when the help side reached in time, they weren't making the adjustment (i.e.: Turner) or were simply to slow moving (i.e.:Mullens) to make a perimeter pass, and that was the cause for all the turnovers and part of their downfall.

The other was of course were the offensive rebounds which were aided by a relatively high amount of 3's missed (Wisconsin couldn't hit the broad side of a barn and were too passive getting inside earlier in the clock) which created long bounces and a few dirty workers like Krabbe who had more desire and a knack for the ball.

Overall, I can't really brag about a 5 point win at home. Madison should be worth at least that much. Also, Wisconsin has a worse overall record and is 1 game behind in the big time. Although the former is a bit of a farce considering Wisconsin has led the majority of minutes in all but 3 conference games, and had multiple possession leads late in all but 2, only to make foolish decisions and have the luck go in the opponents favor unlike last year. Now we're laddering back to the top of the Big 11, or near it, where we belong. On Wisconsin!

Good game.

meh. I expected to lose this game. We just aren't consistent enough. Even though Wisky has a pretty weak roster, I never felt remotely confident about this game.

No one played great for the Bucks, and the outside shot wasn't there when we took it. A great performance by Diebler or Buford would have gone a very long way tonight.

But it is fine....we're still in great shape, and thankfully we don't have to play that black hole of a team again. Those guys are instant offense killers, and take basketball right back to 1949. Even James Naismith changes the channel every chance he can get when Wisconsin is on TV.....unfortunately the dunk constest was as entertaining as Wisconsin running a fast break tonight.

There was no excuse for about 8-10 of those passes to be thrown the way they were (or at all).

Wisky also got a ton of loose ball bounces on the offensive end (which only increase when your team is actually aggressive), which somewhat negated the advantage osu held at times with the zebras (the complete opposite of what OSU teams usually get in that building).

I don't like to put this out there, but I think we got out coached tonight...

I know about all the turnovers and the offensive rebounds, but when you have your best shooter who is taking up one whole defender it should make the game that much easier for your team on offense, in terms of a pick n roll with him, or say baseline screens, where either he is going to get a shot or someone is going to slip the screen, but yet we didn't get him any shots and no one got open looks...

I absolutely know it is tough to go into Madison and win, but when you shoot as good as you do and Wisky only scores 55 we should win...

BLAH...Onto the next game...It helps the big ten in terms of Wisky probably going to get into the tourney...

I can't disagree, but who hasn't been out coached in Madison? We should have won the game based on talent, but 5 home losses in 7 years? (that may not be right) There are a lot of teams that have been out coached in Madison.
