OHIO STATE 49, WISCONSIN 48 (Final)

I heard on ESPIN this morning that Conley told Oden while they were running back down the court after sinking what turned out to be his game winning basket, "there's no way we are losing this game." I am more and more impressed with this kid after every game.

Cook's stock hasnt plummetted. He is being projected as the 20th pick. With all the talent thats going to be coming out next year, especially at guard, I dont really see him improving his spot no matter how well he plays. The NBA drafts on potential and late first round pays a ton of money.

Also mothers know their sons better than coaches know a player that they have coached under NCAA rules for 9 months. Cook's mom even said he feels like he is being punished. Thats not how a player should feel. If Matta knew Cook so well he would find a way to show/tell him that he is a vital part of this team and he isnt being punished.

I really do not get how you thought Ron Lewis played great yesterday (oh and that cheer was definitely about Ron Lewis), im not sure where you were sitting, but everyone near me was shouting about his play all game. He gave up the go ahead layup, got blocked on the put back and had far from a great game. Cook could have and should have gotten some minutes, it wasnt like Butler or Lewis were "lighting it up." In my opinion Cook addressed the big criticism about him when he started playing more consistent defense. He has won championships in his career (carrying his team with 40+ points at times) and being forced to sit the entire last 12 minutes or so has to be excruciating and took the glory out of the win for him. I really believe Matta is benching Cook into the pro's, if Cook got more minutes, was having fun and realizing he needed improvement it would be one thing, but sitting on the bench and playing structured minutes will just cause frustration and contempt.

might be. though one thing i can say. when cook was at the 3 we struggled rebounding the ball. from the 2 2 1 yesterday cook spent most of his minutes at the two. so that means youre gonna put butler on the bench? cook didnt match up with flowers or taylor.

also no one has mentioned how wisc frosh jason bohannon stepped up and had a heckuva a game.

In a shocking event, Len Elmore of ESPN said some very nice things about tOSU basketball on SportsCenter. He said (paraphrasing) that the team had many very talented players, and were a good pick to win the NCAA tournament. And he used the onld line about Conley 'not being a freshman' any more.

I really can't add (that's hard to believe) on to much that has already been said.

However, I will disagree with those of you then have said that this was a fairly officiated game. Well I agree that the officiating was bad for both teams, I think that the non-calls on Oden hurt Ohio State more than the non-calls on any Wisconsin player.

I will also take issue with some of you then have said Butler did not play a good game. I think he was stellar on the defensive side and really did not have the ball that much on offense and the shots that he did take were good ones and he really did not try to force anything. I just really like Butler and what he brings to the game and he just doesn't get many props.

Also, I have read where someone said that Cook might not be getting minutes because Matta wants him to stay another year. If that were true, I think that the whole team would think that and Matta would lose all
credibility with the team.

With that being said, Congratulations to the Big 10 champs! and good luck in the tournament!

Cook was projected #10 pick just 2/3 months ago...Get some early declarations from guys that might not be projected to go and Cook could fall from 20 where he is projected now to late first round/early second.

First off if you were a college coach with the record that Matta has what would you think of one of your players mom criticizing your coaching, not quite sure that would fly with me...

So you are telling me that 19000 fans got loud b/c Lewis decided not to take a shot or take the ball to the hole...No it was due to us getting the ball back, and they were all waiting to see what was going to happen and when Lewis pulled it back out they cheered...

Lewis also held the big ten POY to 12 pts in arguably the biggest game of the season...He was attacking the basket, and you could tell from Cook's shots that he was short arming his shots...

:oh:

he said it before the play, as they were running on to the court after the timeout. that's even more impressive.

An unscheduled work day yesterday meant that I had to watch the game on tape. I thought it was a very good big 10 game with all the elements in place.
Both teams played with a lot of heart and passion.
IMO this was one of the best Buckeyes wins in years.
I am still enjoying it.
Thank you Buckeyes It was a great win!

I'm suprised I haven't heard more props for Harris after the game. I thought that was one of his best overall performances of the year yesterday. He played with a lot of heart, hit some timely shots and really picked it up on defense. I think he was definately a difference maker in the game. I was most impressed when he drove baseline and threw in the tough bank shot near the end of the game when everybody looked really winded. That's not his stregth, but he did what he needed to do to help his team. I for one was really happy to see him go out on a great note. A former McDonald's All American with so much expected out of him coming into OSU...this guy stuck it out through the tough times and has really learned to play his role on this team. Just look at his stat line from the game: 5-9 from the field, 3-6 from 3 pt land, 3 boards, 2 assists to only 1 TO, for 13 points. And all we hear is Conley, Oden and Lewis. My shout out this week goes to the role player who played his role...Ivan Harris.

Wisconsin's Butch likely out for season

Wisconsin big man Brian Butch's season is likely over.

The 6-foot-11 junior dislocated his right elbow in the first half of the Badgers loss at Ohio State on Sunday afternoon. He left the floor and later returned to the bench with a sling around his right arm.
"We know how tough it will be for Brian to have to sit out but we also know the type of person he is and how hard he will work to get back," Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan said in a statement. "For Brian to average close to 10 points and six rebounds a game for the last two years is a good indication of how steady a contributor he has been to our program. We will miss his energy and enthusiasm on the court but know he will still give us those things in the locker room and on the bench."
