Ohio State 46 Butler 65 (Final)

Look at the talent they have...

They have 3 guys that can score 25+ night, they have the best backcourt in college basketball, and they have the kid that put up 16 against us in the middle...

They may not be the biggest team, but that isn't always what it is all about...They rebounded with us and while we arent a great reboudning team we do outsize them at every position...

I don't see any reason why this team isnt a team that could be talked about in the final four come March...

Especially with the senior laden team...They have seen big games before...That is why they didnt get rattled against us...

The "best backcourt" in college basketball. I think that might be a little bit of an overstatement.:)

Out rebounding us or staying with us on the boards isn't saying much right now.

Memorable forgettable night

Coach Thad Matta used the word ?tough,? or a derivation of it, three times during his postgame news conference Saturday night. His young team doesn?t have enough toughness right now, at least not against more seasoned teams like Texas A&M, North Carolina and Butler, which started five seniors.
?You just don?t see five seniors in a starting lineup anymore in college basketball,? Matta said.
He?ll work on hardening his team's mettle this week in practice. More on that in the newspaper Monday.
Beyond that, here are some things, strange and otherwise, that made an impression on me during my first-ever visit to historic Hinkle Fieldhouse, which was rockin? all night.

Way too early to panic. This is what you get with a young team. We will do well in big ten play.

I think you are right, but I also think we should be prepared for them to not get twenty wins and get into the NCAA unless they step on it right now.

Their offensive efficiency is shockingly poor and their rebounding is very slack. I think OBJ said it dead right, they lack an identity.

One problem of a Thad Five year is that you get a rebuilding year the following year when everyone departs. I'm fine with that, but the team really has to get their minds wrapped around what it is going to take to achieve their goals.

This is what I've been saying all along, on both counts. This team needs to gel under the senior leadership and if it does then we might get into the Dance and if it isn't brought together then we will do poorly.
Go BUCKS!

Agree with everything you both have said. However the only true senior leadership that we have right now is Butler. Hunter needs to step up big-time in both the rebounding and scoring department. I do not think we can count on KK for many offensive rebounds... hopefully he will prove me wrong.

Now that Butler has lost to Wright State, does anyone want to re-evaluate just where the Buckeyes are right now?

I like this team less than any other I have seen since O'Brien's first year in Columbus. Very little toughness, poor decisionmaking other than Jamar Butler. Some of this may be attributable to inexperience, but certainly not all of it.

Off tonight to cheer like crazy, though!

After last night, I think most of us know the answer to your post.

In fairness to the Buckeyes, Wright State owns Butler like Jim Tressel owns M*ch*g*n, so that's probably not the best indicator. Wright State has beaten Butler 9 of the last 11 meetings, dating back to 03-04.
