Yup.

Punting into the wind, they're going to have good field position. I don't have much faith in our D today, and we need a yard. Falling forward would probably give us the first down.

Or, they stop us and are pretty much guaranteed a TD.

Like I said, I'm glad I'm not the coach and I'm glad they look at the risk/reward ratio.
