Game Thread Ohio State 3, Southern Cal 35 (Sept. 13)

Sc is replacing some players at some key positions, but do not forget the type of talent these guys go up against in practice. There are alot of second and third string players at SC that would start at other schools. Not bragging I am just sayin'. Same thing at osu and other upper teir d-1 schools.:)

Ask any coach, practice does not equal real live snaps. Yes, SC has a wealth of talent, and any one on this board saying something different is either baiting or an idiot. But, in your "defense" here you make an implied assumption (or two) which fails.

"There are a lot of second and third stringers at SC that would start at other schools." Yes. So what? None of those "other schools" is Ohio State. You even go on to retract your remark by admitting the same is true at other top tier schools... so... what's the point then?

You probably know a lot more about SC than we do here. Tell us who we maybe don't know about has a shot of making some noise and why. We already know SC has a lot of talent on the roster.

Top 25 regulars Would you list the team that has been in the top 25 the most the past 10 years?
? John in Bainbridge, Ga.
-----

Something tells me you already knew at least part of the answer.

I checked the final rankings of the past 10 AP polls because only the last one really matters ? and because I refuse to go week to week over a decade.
Research shows that only two teams ? Georgia and Texas ? have finished in the AP's Top 25 in each of the past 10 seasons.

The near-misses with nine top-25 finishes were Michigan (unranked in '05) and Virginia Tech (unranked in '03).
Tennessee, Florida, Miami and Florida State have eight top-25 finishes in that span.

The teams with the most top-five finishes are Ohio State and USC, with six each.

All I am trying to say is when teams have alot of good players they go against in practice, it makes the whole team deeper than other teams with less overall talent. My point is like I am sure SC wont take OSU lightly I just hope OSU doent take SC lightly. I am actually more concerned with the team looking past virginia, who can beat good teams as well. As far as guys that can make some noise, a. spicer, c. tupou on the d line:)

Reading some of the opinions on WeAreSC...

seems like USC fans are more concerned with Virginia than they are with tOSU...

:roll2:

yea I read a few threads then left, some of the posts were just flat ridiculous

stuff like this

SC has more athletes than the SEC obviosuly with 7 draft picks in the first 2 rounds of the draft...the whole SEC didn't have that many in the first 2 rounds! Also scoreboard, SC dominated the best Arkansas teams in the last 30 years by 50 a game...come on! Auburn got smoked too! End of story. Does OSU want this?

Tonight, over a plate of excellent Bar-B-Que, I was witness to the tOSU Spring Game on the Big 10 Network. I will be fair and give my honest opinion. No offense, spotty defense, few with any spead, young offensive line, and Beokmann threw more interceptions than touchdowns. The scoring for both sides was low, like 20-7, and it was dull Midwestern football.

a bunch of

no way tOSU beats us on our home turf

(sounds like the general attitude of the Ohio State fans before the Texas game in 2005)

THE ONLY REASON WE HAVEN'T WON THE NC RECENTLY IS BECAUSE OF INJURIES AND BAD LUCK!

and lots of blabble that them beating Illinois in the Rose Bowl means that Ohio State stands little chance to beat them

I guess every board has its share of delusional homers though

Virginia is a pretty tough season opener. I would be really pissed if USC loses that game. Hopefully, USC only loses one game next year. We need USC to be a quality win.

Exactly why i'm happy to see everyone in the big ten win except on game days against OSU.
