Good, then he will be completely out of the play when the Bucks run a screen pass, or dump it off to the RB releasing out of the backfield.

No, wait, my bad. We don't run either one of those plays.

So, I wonder how much his tendency to overpursue will hurt him against the Buckeye offense???

Malaluga should match up well with a team like the Buckeyes that runs a pro-style power offense. When he gets moving in the right direction its scary. he really struggles against teams like Oregon who run alot of misdirection with the spread. He was able to exploit illinois becuase their spread doesn't throw that same wrinkle Oregon does

Beanie and Rey going straight at each other all day wil be some serious power and hard hitting action. Can't wait

You stupid fuck. Miami is the site of the next NC game. So, DBB was saying that we have to beat USC and the an SEC in the NC game (again, next NC game is in Miami) before the critics will shut the yaps.

Wow. Yeah, that's justified...

By the way, you spelled "then" wrong. I'm just saying...

Anyways, I actually feel pretty good about this game. A lot of people will point to the Trojans thrashing a team that beat the Buckeyes last year, but the transitive property doesn't work in football - especially through an off-season. The single biggest key to this game is our QB's ability to handle pressure. Boeckman couldn't do it at the end of the season or in the NC Game, so hopefully the coaches figure out some screens, slants, and draw plays to keep a defense honest. As we all saw at the beginning of last year, if TB can have time, he dangerous on deep balls. When he gets rushed, he's average at best.

So is Tom Brady it seems.

When any QB is under a lot of pressure and duress in the pocket they are usually average at best.

Okay fine. Since my point seems to be missed in the precise translation of my choice of words, I'll form my opinion in two simple yes/no questions:

1. Are you pleased with how TB handled blitzes?
2. Do you think the offensive gameplan neutralized pressure effectively?

As a USC fan, I expect both defenses to get after the qb. They will try and take advantage of TB's mobility, and after SC's qb for his lack of experience, considering we do not know who will start. Should be a ESPN classic!:)

1) Not at all. Good QB's don't look at the rush, they keep their eyes downfield until the "clock" in their head tells them it's time to get the hell out of there. Todd just looked at the rush and tried to find someway to get the ball away. He didn't try to check down to other recievers either, just seemed like he was trying to force it to Robiskie and Hartline nearly every other attempt.

2) No, but this has been beaten like a dead horse. A few bubble screens or draw plays might've helped, but Pelini wouldn't have stopped blitzing regardless. Not helping matters was the fact that the receivers couldn't seem to get any seperation whatsoever. I've tried to block as much of the game out of my mind as possible, so I may be wrong on this though..

I would recommend assigning someone to cover their tight end.

LSU vs. Ohio State wasn't the butt whippin that ESPN would lead you to believe. Pure and simple execution on offense and defense and it would have been a completely different game.

Protect the QB.
-2 INTs under duress by Boeckman vs. LSU. Throw it smart or tuck it. Toddy has never been clutch, so why make him?

Run the ball.
- Beanie accrued 20 rushes vs. LSU. Not including Boeckman, OSU rushed 21 times (Hartline 1 for 6 yards) to LSU's 37 times, not including Flynn. LSU averaged 3.1 yards per rush.

Play the run AND the pass.
-
4 TDs 1 Int; 4 TDs 0 INT -
- 49 rushes for 152 yds (3.1 ypc); 51 rushes for 260 yds (5.1 ypc or 3.6 ypc minus 1 run)
Details QB production and rushing stats for LSU and Illinois, respectively.

The problem is the defense can't seem to force a punt when they need to. They can't protect against the pass and the rush at the same time. Is it the Dline's fault? The secondary's fault? Linebackers? Defensive coordinator? Someone.

I think this LSU team was better than USC is going to be. The difference is experience. I'd say they have equal talent, but LSU was senior laden. The problem is that USC has been stockpiling 5 and 4 star recruits for years and anyone of them can hurt you at any time. Ohio State's biggest weakness is hurting the other team when they need to.

I hope the ball bounces our way (as opposed to it bouncing the other way and into Joe McKnight's hands for a 65 yard gain, oh that already happened).

Well if Boeckman can't stand the rush how bout nuetralizing it with a bit of Henton and/or Pryor? You know what Texas did to them with a mobile QB.

With as much potential that Pryor seems to bring to the table and the interesting ideas surrounding what Henton can do, neither one of them is anywhere near Vince Young at this time.
