Pryor stepped up. He found Brian Hartline for completions of 19 and 27 yards -- plays on which Tressel said Hartline was Pryor's third read.
...

A game changing performance by the true freshman.

It was LATE in Troy Smith's 3rd year in the program (RS Soph) before he showed signs of being that much of a clutch performer.

If TP stays healthy, this is gonna be fun

Had some time for the whole thing to sink in now......

Our red zone offense really sucks. Coulda built a 14 or 21 point lead early in the game. After Beanie's run, we get good field position several times, especially after the fumble. We fail to capitalize there, and several times in the second half.

I realize it sounds like I am just complaining about a huge win on the road against Wiscy, but that's not it at all. If you take those same mistakes into a BCS game, NC, etc, you're gonna get smoked. Wiscy is no USC, Oklahoma, etc. Are we in the same league as those teams right now? No. I dont think we will be the way our current offense and defense runs. I dont see a problem with the players, I see a problem with the coaching. I could be way off, but the more I watch other teams play, I see so much more imagination from the other teams that we just do not have.

I don't think you are way off, but I DO think there is a comfort level issue with the coaches and how they are calling the defense and offense.

On offense it's understandable - a brand new Frosh QB and with Beanie hurt and missing 3 games they haven't yet established a true rhythm and identity.

On defense however, this is baffling. That and some of the personnel packages at the end of the first half made no sense (at least to me).

That said I think they are close to establishing that identity on offense. I'd say to look for the reins on TP to be loosened a bit these next two weeks before the PSU game.

And look for Beanie to start getting 30 carries a game. I think they weren't riding him as much as they could have because they want to see what he can handle and he STILL had 170 yards. Just think if they had committed to the run like they did last year.....

Honestly, this week I expect to see Tressel and Bollman to open up the play book for Pryor and let him really show his stuff. I think they've been a little protective of him so far.

That final drive showed he doesn't need to be eased in. He needs to be let loose.
