OH WR Justin Layne (Sparty Signee)

I personally wouldn't call anything about Layne's game elite. I think he is a good high school player, I just like the guys I listed more.

Mack and Victor are simply in another talent stratosphere, not much needs to be said there.

Corley is not quite as good of a jump ball player as Layne, but he's a much better blocker and a better open space threat. They are close in ability, but I really like Corley's toughness and willingness to get gritty. Like Layne, I think Corley's best position in college would be safety.

Mitchell and Layne are pretty different players, so it's hard to compare them fairly. In an offense where a premium has been placed on running ability, Mitchell is the better fit. I don't know that he's a true X like some if the others, but he's an exciting prospect for sure.

That being said, I do appreciate your point of view. It's easy to rag on the guy who just picked another team, so I think it's cool you're staying true to your opinion.
That HUDL video of Corley must have been old because he looks light years different. Corley's agility and speed are the best of the 3. Layne's recruitment makes more sense now, plus with being in on more WR's than normal. The trouble with all this interest is there's a point with TE WR and DE where we are going to have to stop recruiting great talent due to reaching the cap at those positions.

Uh, fully disagree. Like @Krenzelicious said, "never"! You always take the best and find ways to fit them in. It's been working at Alabama for years, and Urban made it work at UF as well. You always bring in the best competition regardless of position. That's the difference in Osu bringing in 6 OL last year, instead of stopping at 4 or 5. If the right guy wants in, fits the scheme and is highly rated, then they get him. I don't see Urban ever turning down great talent. Layne wasn't great, so his loss isn't big, it's only seen as big to some because he was from Ohio. We won't get a number of in state guys, but if we're winning NCs with out of state kids I don't think people will care. If our class was full and Binjamin Victor wanted in, we would take him

Well we're not going to take 6 DE's this year so your comment is wrong. The talk of the cut off was 4. So that leaves King and Robertaon on the outside looking in. There are stopping points because you have to maintain balance in classes. 6 OL isn't a crazy number because a OL contains 5 starters on the field at all times. Layne is a great talent but there are a lot of WR out there with serious interest. Layne wasn't pursued hard because he fell in the staffs pecking order and the cap at the postion is 2 or 3, it's not because he's not good. Layne was a when not if recruit a couple months ago, same with haskins, but due to spots being full at a particular position some good talent has to be passed.

MSU is putting together a decent class so far with Weaver, Chambers, and now Layne. Best of luck Justin. I would have loved him on board but I really want a class of Mack, Corley, and/or Victor. I really like Ahmir Mitchell and Jordan Fuller as well.
