Dual-Threat Quarterback / Athlete
Cincinnati OH Wyoming

Height: 6-foot-5
Weight: 190 lbs
Class: 2020 (high school)

Evan does not have an Ohio State offer, but the Buckeyes are ultra-thin at QB and will probably have to take two in the class of 2020. According to 247 Composite, Evan is the #15 prospect in Ohio (#511 overall), although he's #8 according to their own rankings (#390 overall); Rivals has him at #18 in Ohio.

  • Evan is a legit Power5 prospect (offers from Michigan State, Purdue, Indiana, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Louisville, Syracuse, Duke, and Miami of Florida, along with Cincinnati).
  • Ohio State is in desperate need of quarterback depth, and Evan is a local kid with size and skills. I would not be surprised to see Ohio State extend him an offer as a developmental prospect.
  • Evan's brother, Garyn, is a walk-on wide receiver at Ohio State, so the kid has solid Buckeye ties, maybe solid enough to keep him out of the transfer portal if he's not seeing regular playing time.
  • Evan is athletic enough (he's also a basketball star) that he could probably switch positions to wide receiver if Ohio State ever gets their quarterback situation straightened out.
 
My daughter's High School is in the same conference as Evan so I have seen him play football and basketball many times. Matter of fact they went on to win state in football and when we played them in the playoffs we almost beat them but they came back late in the 4th quarter and then won in overtime. I think we were the only team to even give them a game as they breezed through the rest of the playoffs. Anyways, Evan is very athletic and it can be seen in both football and basketball. Not sure he would translate well into a college QB as his arm is decent but it is his running threat that drove their offense (from what I saw).

I have seen Evan play four times as my kids school (Indian Hill) played them four times in the last two years. Once in the regular season and once in the playoffs each year. Both years we lost one of the two games handily but twice we really gave them a run for their money. Especially last year when they won state and we actually were winning in the fourth quarter of our the playoff game before they scored late and won. He is a gifted athlete though this is a pretty small league and competition is limited. He was definitely the best athlete on the field. All that being said, he is not a natural passer from what I saw. Or at the very least is not asked to pass that much. Wyoming seems to be about 75% run oriented running a lot of option type of runs with him keeping the ball and running the majority of the time. I wonder how UC will use him...QB...or athlete.

UC has failed to really develop QBs,so I’d say a little bit of both. Though Evan is probably the best athlete he has recruited at QB
