I'm just saying, that list is fantastic but it's missing that guy who won't be denied short yardage. Maybe it wont work out, maybe it will. Keeping those brothers from a competitor is also a plus.

Too soon old, too late smart
Will be interesting who shows out in the short yardage situations. From what have seen/read, all of these guys can do the break aways, by making second level miss, but the guys that can get the one-two yards between the tackles have yet to surface (or so I believe). Also believe that will be the quickest way to the field. Anyway, call it rationalization, but believe tOSU will be just fine at RB this year. Will let next year alone until next year.

That's kinda the point we were making. Maybe we slums offerhim as both LB and short yardage back. He's already older than his classmates right, so his body is more mature. Theres no doubt he can play because he dominates on a big high school stage. He's a ridiculous athlete so special teams is also likely in the picture.
We offer "athletes" all the time do why not and see where he shines. Then we also get inside track in the brother. I'm sure they have a strategy that we aren't privy to but losing these two kids reminds me of losing some great players in our state from the past and it tastes bad.

From pretty much all of the OSU insiders, they believe that the OSU staff thinks he and his brother have already peaked or come close to it. And they don't want 2 players whose best years will be freshman years. I could see OSU picking up a transfer. I don't think a RB is needed in '27. And both Jackson and West are not small RBs, a short yardage isn't really needed imo

Different scenarios though. He was brought in as a FB, Feister is a RB, who will want to be in the rotation. Boren was the only FB. And he had 12att for 25yds in 3yrs playing RB, Feister will transfer after 1 year if he has that many carries in a season. And in the NIL era, Boren isn't commanding close to the money Feister is
I think the ship has sailed on Feister, as other teams have started to up their NIL deals as well. And I wouldn't want OSU to get in a bidding war with Oregon over player they don't see as a Plan A type of player.

In this NIL world I would love to see a true Iso FB on tOSU's roster. There has to be some 3 star Ohio boys itching to be Buckeyes who could do it.

I wouldn't. He'd hardly be used, and that spot can be utilized by someone who would play more actual snaps. At this point in football, you can use a TE as the blocking FB and be fine. But offenses have changed too much to utilize the true FB anymore, and if a coach were to apply a FB, he better know how to catch out of the backfield, and may even have to split wide. And many HS don't utilize the position much anymore either now. A FB on the field takes one of the talented WRs off the field, or a TE who can do everything the FB can do and then some

I fully understand all of your reasons, and that's why they don't carry one. I am also being an irrational fan for a moment.
Hopefully Welcing can do it, nobody on last year's roster held a candle to Patrick Gurd the year prior.
