2018 OH DE Malik Vann (Cincinnati Verbal)

“Notre Dame, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Florida State, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Cincinnati,” Vann answered when asked who his favorites are. All have offered Vann a scholarship.

Vann has been planning to announce his college choice in the summer, though that is not set in stone.

“June 26 is the date, but I might move it up,” Vann said.

If the Buckeyes were to offer would they move into Vann’s top group?

“Probably,” he answered.

I am also hoping Vann gets an offer...I am thinking he is possibly a future 3-tech, so I like his versatility. We need DE's and DT's in this class and I really like Vann. However, Tyreke Smith and Leonard Taylor seem to be the first two options in-state and I see us landing both as of now...if we miss one, I think Vann gets his offer. Even if we get both, I still would not rule out an offer though, just depends on numbers. We have also offered some big time OOS guys but I don't see us landing any of them (Xavier Thomas, Tyler Friday, etc.).

Great get for Fickell no doubt. I think Malik is an excellent prospect and the staff just had Hawkins and Smith a tad higher...I am hopeful we get both but always thought Vann was a very similar player to those in style and in talent. Best of luck to Malik at UC.
