Monsanna Torbert has Decommitted from Indiana
Think this means he's almost certainly going to end up at Ohio State

No not guaranteed. Marcus Freeman and ND are all over him too. I would say it’s safe to say we have a slight lead though. Him and his brother love OSU.
OV set up to OSU for 6/5, Michigan 6/12, and ND 6/19.

Alex G puts in a rpm for Monsanna Torbert to Ohio State.

I'm starting to think this CB class will be Torbert, Woods, and Malone. Although if Osborne wants in I think we could take four.
That would be a nice haul, but I really want to see Torbert land with us the most. He's one I thought that we couldn't let get away, he is legit.

Top Cornerback Target Monsanna Torbert Jr. “Very Excited” for Ohio State Official Visit This Weekend

Monsanna Torbert Jr.’s trip to Columbus for his official visit to Ohio State started a day early.

Torbert’s official visit to Ohio State will formally begin Friday, but the four-star cornerback from Cincinnati was already on campus Thursday for Ohio State’s third high school football camp of the week. While Torbert didn’t work out in the camp himself, he was there to watch his younger brother Sean Torbert, a defensive back in the 2028 recruiting class who also holds an offer from the Buckeyes.

As he watched the camp alongside Ohio State’s current cornerbacks, including fellow Cincinnatians Jermaine Mathews Jr. and Cam Calhoun, Torbert got an up-close look at how Ohio State secondary coach Tim Walton coaches his players. And he liked what he saw.

“It’s been great just watching these guys fly around, just watching how Coach Walt coaches, how he coaches DBs, just watching him get after it,” Torbert said.

Over the next three days, Torbert will get a closer look at every aspect of Ohio State as he makes his official visit – a visit that could play a crucial role in his recruitment and the Buckeyes’ efforts to build their 2027 cornerback class.

“I'm very excited for this official visit, to just really see what all the university has to offer,” Torbert said. “I’ve been up here a couple times, but I really didn't get to see the school and all that the times that I did come here. Now I can see the academic part, just the inside of Ohio State, and spend time with Coach Ryan Day.”

Torbert, who’s ranked as the No. 102 overall prospect in the 2027 class, stands as one of Ohio State’s top cornerback targets in the 2027 class entering this weekend’s official visit. He’s one of four cornerbacks who will make official visits to Ohio State this month along with Jaden Carey, who visited the Buckeyes last weekend; fellow in-state cornerback Deontay Malone, who will also visit this weekend; and John Meredith III, the No. 1 cornerback in the class, who’s scheduled to visit next weekend.

Ohio State is viewed as the frontrunner to land Torbert entering his official visit. While this weekend will give him the chance to get a closer look at the program, he already feels comfortable at Ohio State from his previous visits.

Torbert will be one of six official visitors for Ohio State this weekend along with Malone, five-star wide receiver Monshun Sales, four-star offensive tackle Caden Moss and two players who are already committed to the Buckeyes, five-star defensive end DJ Jacobs and four-star linebacker Quinton Cypher.

Ohio State can remind Kyle Whittingham who owns the Big Ten by landing 4-star CB

Will the Buckeyes be able to land the touted playmaker?

Ohio State is hoping to land 4-star CB Monsanna Torbert over Michigan and others

As we've said time and time again, Day is never going to want to let elite in-state talent leave home. With the drive from Cincinnati to Columbus being around 90 minutes, compared to almost four hours to Ann Arbor, you've got to figure that'd give Ohio State a bit of an advantage here. Day can sell the youngster on playing close to home, with family and friends being able to watch him in action much easier.

As for Michigan, it's looking to work some magic here too, as the 5-10, 160-pounder is set to take his official visit to the UM campus on June 19. Back-to-back weekends at Ohio State and Michigan sure makes this recruiting race a bit more intriguing.

At one point, Torbert was Indiana-bound, giving Curt Cignetti his verbal pledge. However, the Ohio product decided to open up his recruitment, which was obviously welcomed news for OSU fans. Now, the Buckeyes are upping their efforts in trying to land him this time around, though Michigan and others are hoping to make things difficult.

According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Torbert is ranked four stars, the No. 13 cornerback in the country, No. 5 player out of Ohio, and No. 102 prospect nationally for the 2027 class. He currently holds 34 offers to his name, which speaks to how highly touted of a playmaker he is. This is of course all something Day knows and understands.

Thus far for the '27 haul, Ohio State is up to 13 commits, highlighted of course by 5-star EDGE DJ Jacobs and 5-star wide receiver Jamier Brown. Interestingly enough, there are no cornerbacks on the list yet, which is why the Buckeyes are making Torbert a top priority moving forward. For his official visit, Day is going to have to turn his head in the best way possible.

This is something Whittingham will look to do next weekend too, as he knows there's going to be extra pressure to match what Ohio State gets done. We'll give credit to Whittingham, as he's been on fire landing commits for the Wolverines. However, Day and Co. can serve him up some humble pie by getting things over the line with Torbert. Should that happen, it will be a key reminder for Michigan that Ohio State still has a bit of power over them both on and off the field.
