Official Super Bowl thread....

wow, Hasselbeck's everywhere on this play. he has time to block a Pittsburgh player and THEN make the tackle too. Amazing! :roll1:

10:54) M.Hasselbeck pass intended for D.Jackson INTERCEPTED by I.Taylor at PIT 5. I.Taylor to PIT 29 for 24 yards (M.Hasselbeck).
PENALTY on SEA-M.Hasselbeck, Low Block, 15 yards, enforced at PIT 29.

Yeah, that was the one call that was obviously bad no matter how you look at it in my opinion.

I agree that there aren't a lot of offensive pass interference calls as light as the one called on Seattle, but how does that make it an incorrect call? He clearly gained an advantage by pushing his hand right between the numbers. On top of that I believe there was another offensive PI call against the Steelers in the game, so it seemed like they were calling it even on that front. I'm not sure about missed holding calls on the Steelers, but I didn't see any calls on the Seahawks that weren't holding.

The holding was the real discrepancy...two of BRoths scrambles and the middle screen to Ward had obvious holding...no call. And it was kinda funny in the fourth to see BRoth go low on a guy to block him (perfectly legally) and have the announcers say it was a great play, whereas Hasselbeck got a penalty trying to make a tackle...go figure.

we never saw what they called against pittsburgh, and there was no complaint from the guilty steeler on that play. My complaint is that WRs are often able to push off a little (or a lot, as exemplified by Ward's shove to the seattle db's face, we got a great closeup of it on a replay). That's what doesn't make sense about the call... it just isn't called. When you throw down the defender, that's one thing. but not when there is a light arm extension.

I guess I've always felt WRs get away with way too much, so it doesn't bother me that much whenever they finally call offensive pass interference. I just thought it was really funny when Irvin disagreed with the call because right before he said it I was like well if Irvin was playing he totally would have got away with it.

I'm neither a Steelers or a Seahawks fan but my roommate is irate cause he had money on the 'Hawks. His belief is the entire game was lost on a bad holding call at around 12:24 in the 4th quarter (just before the Randel El TD pass). I'll give him the bad first quarter offensive PI call but there is no way that bad holding call cost them the entire game. IMO, Holmgren/Hasselback mismanaging the game clock at the end of the first and second halves, all the dropped passes in the red-zone, and Shaun Alexander doing next to nothing lost it for them.

Awful tough trying to convince a man who is out $150 that the Seahawks did more to lose it than the zebras did.

considering the large stage, wouldn't you expect them to have a good halftime performer once in a while? I guess they are good at beating the odds...

I have too, but the super bowl is the wrong time to suddenly buck the trend in dramatic fashion. And it wasn't called consistently, as there were other pushoffs.

talk about bizarro world. i just got in a fight w/ my wife who accussed me of not "having her back" and "supporting" her when her team played. she knows I hate the steelers and even sung the michigan fight song during the game to piss me off. wtf.

so after she accusses me of this crap(and for the record, I said I hoped they won for "her sake" but I'm still hoping seattle wins) I went bonkers and lost it. I punched a hole through our door and then ripped it off its hinges and smashed it with a hammer.

No more door on the closet, I'm pissed, my wife is pissed, my wife is crying, and now I sleep upstairs alone with the dog who himself is scared shitless. What a fucking crappy night. I fucking hate the steelers even more now.
