Official FIFA 2010 World Cup Discussion

I'm shocked that Russia up 2-0 in the first leg of the playoff conceded a crucial away goal in the 88th minute to Slovenia last saturday. It turned out to be the difference as Slovenia won the 2nd leg 1-0 and clinched the spot in South Africa on away goals. I'm also disappointed that Bosnia-Herzegovina didn't put up as big a fight against Portugal as i expected them to in the 2nd leg. They were without arguably their most instrumental player, Misimovic but only down 1-0 on aggregate they didn't play as well as i thought they would at home.

Looking at you're avatar I'm guessing you're an Argentina fan? What do you make of Maradona's struggles in qualifying and do you think that translates to the WC for better or for the worse?

I'm horribly disappointed, I was really looking forward to seeing Arshavin in the world cup. I wonder if anyone will hire Hiddink for the world cup, he'd be a great hire for pretty much any of the 32 teams.

That kid has an absolute CANNON. FSC replayed on of their matches a few days ago (Arsenal vs Man U) and he blasted a hell of a shot into the net.

I was really hoping to see Bosnia knock out Portugal yesterday. I'd rather see Dzeko, Pjanic, and Ibisevic than those bitches.

No Russia, no Croatia, no Sweden, no Czech Republic, no Poland, no Turkey. France coming close to being knocked out. Fuckin' Algeria and Uzbekistan? Should be a weird World Cup.

Let me tell you, the December 4th group drawing can't come soon enough, I'm really anxious about who the USA will get. If we get matched up with South Africa as our Pot A team... I will probably run naked through the streets in celebration.

Absolutely, I'm an Arsenal fan and when he's on form he's a joy to watch. Undoubtedly one of the most dangerous players in the world.

There's always a couple teams that you look back on and just think...wtf?

I'm a bit disappointed in not being able to see Sweden's technical attack with Ibrahimovic. Alot of hype from him but at 28 years old he might miss being able to ever show out in a World Cup.

And a side note, is Van Persie just horribly off of his amazing form? In watching that match I didn't see the cognitive brilliance from him that I was accustomed to.

The ManU match was back in August actually, but yes he did have a slow start to the season. He's been back in form recently though, 3 assists and 5 goals in our past 5 league games.

Well, he was back in form. Then he partially tore some ligaments in his ankle in an international friendly last weekend. *sigh* Apparently he'll only be out for about a month, because we sent him to some miracle treatment where they rub a placenta on his leg. And no, I'm not kidding.

It's not that I didn't believe you...but I'm not sure that I believed you. :tongue2:

Wenger no fan of placenta cure

But Arsenal boss will allow players to try all methods

Arsene Wenger may not agree with Robin van Persie's choice of treatment but he will not block his players from using alternative means to recover from injury.
The Arsenal striker travelled to Serbia for a radical treatment on his ankle ligament injury which involves massage with placenta.

is expected to be sidelined for six weeks after sustaining what was first thought to be a season-ending injury in the recent international friendly with Italy.
And while Gunners boss Wenger does not condone the methods employed, he will not condemn any members of his squad for using whatever means necessary to get back onto the field as quickly as possible.
"I am not a fan, but also I am not a doctor," the Arsenal manager said.
