Official Cleveland Browns Draft Thread

yeah because they couldn't get any free agents to come. Especially when the Browns change there coach every 4 years and there offense and defensees indentity about every season. Who wants to come be a part of that. How about that front office!? All the front office is two words. Warm Bodies.

There is some truth to that, but football is still football. Regardless of who is in the front office, you should still play with some intensity and go hammer the guy lined up in front of you.

Considering he is still just 19, he can probably add on some more weight. I didn't check the Sr Bowl numbers, but other sources have him at about 310 -- a little under, but good to build on. He was fun to watch in the practices, beat Mozes pretty good.
I think Okoye is a guy to keep an eye on. Not sure if he's worth 3-4 overall, but he says his goal is to be a top-5 selection (from JWins' article).

he was 287 (i think) when he was weighed, which is disappointing

ive been watching the practices, and he has a very good spin move that he uses to get by guys in the interior. dont think we'll end up with him

ryan mcbean is a guy that we should look at in the latter rounds if he can play the 5

Yeap. That's confirmed. A little disappointing. At this point I don't think we end up with him either, but I'm already a fan of his.

Amobi Okoye Louisville 6020 287 Notes: Big upper body, cut and muscular.

The Browns' scouting staff had at least one set of eyes on all 101 players who were on the field for the two Senior Bowl practices Tuesday - with some closer looks going to several of the biggest players on the field.
...
"Versatility helps," Savage said. "The center/guard combination would probably be of most interest to us because we feel like Isaac Sowells might be a swing guard/tackle."

Sounds like Savage might be taking a long hard look at Kalil, Datish, and Mozes in the 2nd round (or mid-1st if we trade down?)

Good idea. As a Buckeye, would love to see a NE Ohio guy like Datish in a Browns uniform. Not a fan of the trading down idea, atleast not to mid first round. I'm hoping to snag Peterson, or if not, I seem to be one of the few Alan Branch fans around. I think he'd be a monster in the middle of the 3-4 defense.

Offensive linemen draw Browns' interest

Friday, January 26, 2007 Doug Lesmerises

Plain Dealer Reporter
Mobile, Ala. -- The Browns, along with the rest of the NFL, would have liked a look at Wisconsin left tackle Joe Thomas this week. But the 6-6, 310-pounder pulled out of Saturday's Senior Bowl late last week, a common move for players projected at the top of the NFL draft.
Though it's agents who typically steer players away from the game, for some scouts, the desire of a top player not to hurt his draft status by risking exposure raises questions about that player's competitiveness. Some of the players here agree.

khalil would get killed in the afc north. he's light and a technician center, not a mauler.

ben grubbs is a likely round 2 target as he could play g/c. provided cleveland doesn't go OL in the first, he's my odds on guess for 2nd round pick.

both datish and mozes have looked very poor in practices this week. guys are constantly getting by him and pushing him back. not someone you want on the browns.

Kalil has been very impressive and has a buzz around him.

also to last poster, doubt we take grubbs in the second, we took sowells in the 4th last year. phil has been talking to CBs a lot this week.

in case you haven't noticed, sowells was inactive for most of the season, and only played in the final game due to 5 OL injuries. Also, both Andruzzi and Coleman are FA, as well as first backup Friedman. Not one cb interviewed by cleveland this week has been looked at as top of round 2 material. i wonder where you come up with stuff at times.

edit: in case you failed to notice, cleveland also interviewed a slew of OL that are considered to be late 1st/early 2nd picks in the last week, including grubbs, and no cb's that are projected there.

they aren't taking a CB in the first two rounds.

There are greater needs elsewhere.

but at least you are off your Brady Quinn kick....

good thing you've been paying attention to things

phil talked to aaron ross and josh wilson, both of whom could very easily be there at #35 or #36.

ross gambles a lot and wilson has been getting beat a lot in practices, i dont like either of them.

both will certainly be available at the top of the 2nd, because neither is worthy of top of the 2nd consideration. the best either is ranked by any service is #5 at their position. Considering how weak cb is this draft, that puts them at late 2nd if they get lucky. but please tell me more about how cleveland won't take an OL in the 2nd because of isaac sowells.
