Official 2009 "Media Darling" thread

Nutri is well established as a rare breed of SEC fan who actually roots for his own team, not a conference as an escape from his team's lack of success (see: the heavy volume of Bama, Ark, Tenn, Aub fans that swamped this board after LSU's wins).
He is a bit slow, but.....well, he's a bit slow.

Mark May said tonight that Iowa and Houston should be in the top-5 now.

It's not that crazy - if you follow the BB73 and Doug Lesmerises school of early season polling.

That means ignore preseason polls and expectations for the rest of the season; and reward teams that are undefeated and have defeated other good teams.

Lesmerises was interviewed on College Gameday this morning because his polls have been so non-mainstream. He presented his position fairly well (he had Miami #2, because of their 2 big wins).

Herbie also talked about the need for early season polls to be very fluid. That's the solution, because preseason polls are never going away.

More reasons of why I hate Mark May. Since mighty Penn State falls, it's because Iowa is this GREAT football team... Perhaps it has nothing to do with Penn State completely melting down and handing the victory to Iowa on a silver platter. I mean, Iowa may be a talented team, but I'm still not sold on them. That being said, I'm glad PSU gave another Big Ten team a chance to be ranked.

Mark May is a classic douchebag

bashes the hell out of Ohio State for struggling with Navy

but a team that needs 2 blocked field goals to beat a 1-AA team is top 5 caliber

Iowa is going to struggle badly to score against Ohio State's defense, Ohio State's offense has had its struggles but right now id still say its better than Iowa's, it will be the same old same old for Iowa when they visit the Shoe, a loss

Va Tech beat Duke 34-26, giving up 398 yards of offense, and somebody at ESPN today said that they won 'going away'. They outscored Duke by 7 points in the 2nd quarter and by 1 point in the 4th, so I don't know how that is 'going away'.

But I guess they didn't want to say it was 'unimpressive'.

I'm officially adding Cincinnati as a media darling... Beating an 0-5 team and passing Ohio State like it's an impressive win... COMPLETE JOKE. Oh well, when they make the trip to USF, I think they come back with a loss.

I guess we can scratch Houston off the list...giving up 60 points to UTEP is, well...It's rollin' baby, It's rollin'...

They weren't ranked, but Houston still got significant votes in the AP Poll. I guess they watched all of the games and couldn't find 25 other teams who wouldn't get 60 points dropped on them by UTEP.
