01/24/07 - Senior Bowl South Team Wednesday Practice Report: Few players have consistently proven to be the best player at their position. One has been LSU's Dwayne Bowe at receiver. Showing better overall quickness than you'd expect for a receiver who measured in at over 6-2 and 222 pounds, Bowe has been able to generate separation from even the quickest cornerbacks all week long. While he dropped a few passes this week, his hands have been as reliable as any other receiver in Mobile, and his strength and size have made him a go-to option for quarterbacks near the goal-line. He is clearly the best receiver here and, in my opinion, is the top senior wideout in the draft. In fact, after this week of practice, I view him as a better prospect than some of the more hyped underclassmen at the position.

His size and physicality made him a tough matchup for cornerbacks and he showed a fluidity in his route-running that constantly created separation. Bowe had several impressive catches early, but bobbled a few down the stretch and dropped a deep touchdown late that would have been one of the highlights of practice. Still, for an offense that struggled to move the ball at all, Bowe was the South's best bet Tuesday.
