What happened to pming picks if they werent going to be on?
Not to act all Nostradamus or anything, but I did relate that last year the same good idea fell on alternately fertile and stony ground. Not surprised by this at all - to each their own way I guess.

With the 26th pick in the NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles select LSU WR Dwayne Bowe. As our receiving corps has been improving, we still need a #1 guy who could be the go-to man. We have also drafted linemen in several of the recent draft years, and with most other positions with decent depth, and with his size, we think that Dwayne Bowe could be the kind of player who ends up being overlooked, and a steal for us.

Geesh less then an hour after Philly's pick New Orleans has stepped up to the podium to find people misguiding their anger towards them

With the 27th pick of the draft the New Orlean Saints select:

Aaron Ross CB 6'1 192 Texas

ross_aaron_05_175.jpg

The saints feel safe in assuming they will never have to watch Fred Thomas get tourced again with Ross joining the team.

After backing up as a freshman, Ross joined the corner rotation as a sophomore, finishing with 36 tackles and an interception. As a junior, he became a dual threat standout. As a corner, Ross had a team high three interceptions, and added 62 tackles to go along with it. His biggest impact was as a punt returner, where he earned All Big 12 1st team honors after averaging 14.7 yards per return, and taking two back for touchdowns. Ross put it all together this year, winning the Thorpe award, for the nation?s top defensive back. He finished the year with 73 tackles, three for loss, a sack, and five interceptions. He also averaged 11.5 yards per punt return, and took one back for a touchdown. Aaron Ross has a great blend of skills. His athleticism, quickness, and speed make him an impact performer as a cornerback and return man. He has the ability to stick with receivers in and out of cuts, and the speed to run with them down the field. Ross also shows the ball skills to locate the ball while it is in the air and make a play on it. His playmaking skills as a punt returner add to his value.
Ross is a work in progress as a corner. He relies on his athletic gifts too often to make plays. He is also going to have to bulk up and get stronger at the next level. He has a thin frame, and can have problems against more physical receivers.
Ross has a lot of upside as a corner, but may need time to develop his skills. His ability on special teams should allow him to get on the field early however, and that may entice a team to take him earlier than expected considering the work he needs to put in as a corner. When all is said and done, Ross could end up in the top 50.

Since I am the GM for the SD Chargers and I can do whatever I want in this capacity I have an announcement.

San Diego announces it has fired Norv Turner and re-hired Marty Schottenheimer

GM Piney had this to say "I cannot handle the draft room without the expertise of Marty and his insights into finding that gleam amongst draftees"

Piney also says he really hopes New England and Baltimore can pick up the pace as I am ready to draft.

With the 28th pick in the first round, the New England Patriots select CB Marcus McCauley from Fresno State.

We love McCauley's size and athleticism at corner. We could have went WR too, but we're going to target the secondary in the first round.

With the 29th pick, the Baltimore Ratbirds select Michael Bush RB Louisville.

Jamal Lewis has a lot of miles on him and is slowing down noticably. Michael Bush is a similar back to Lewis back when Lewis was coming out of Tennessee, and I'm pretty certain he isn't going to be selling Cocaine.

A strong running game is what Baltimore needs at this point. It will help their defense out and will help keep the pressure off of Steve McNair.
