Official 2006 NCAA Tournament Discussion Thread

Can you explain to me how he checked out. B/C he was showing that he was upset is not checking out. So lets look at the opposite side of things, when a guy is excited and throwing his hands in the air b/c he is excited does that mean he has checked out.

Morrison is the the most competetive person in college bball. It is very ignorant of you to say that it is fake. He carried the team in the first tourney game against Xavier.

Tibor being ignorant?

Theres a big surprise...

At least with the first part of your post, yes, absolutely that means they check out of the game isn't over. Some dude on a basketball team starts celebrating like they won, up by a point with 3 seconds to go, and you don't think they'd be subject to ridicule, especially if the man they were guarding blew by them for a winning shot at the buzzer? Anything can happen at the end of a game when it is still one possession...doesn't matter which side you are on.

he lost his composure, plain and simple. Are you arguing that he can be in the right frame of mind if he is bawling (b/c they are about to lose) before the game is decided? The zags could have won that game, and baptista probably had enough time to pass it off and let someone else shoot it.

It's one thing to start looking worried, and play tight down the stretch. It's a whole different thing when Adam basically IS the team, and tears are streaming down his face before the end.

He always is over the top in his emotions, both good and bad. I do not mind it as much when it is celebration or the agony of failure. I simply think it is embarrassing and dehabilitating to Gonzaga when their star is heartbroken when they still have a shot.

I am not condoning what he did. My whole point of my first post was to the people that were knocking college kids for crying after the game.

They were directed at Reddick and Morrison. Then I made the point that some people can't control their emotions as well as others.

You can see in pictures that he is not balling why still on the court. Yeah it is a face of sadness, but no tears and he is just upset, you can tell he is trying to hold his tears in and I think we have watched Morrison enough to know that he was not giving up. On the last play, you see him attempt to try and get the ball at about half court but they threw the long pass to Bautista.

Holy shit! This moron was flat out bawling like a little kid!

This was one of the quotes that was posted on this site about Morrison. That was my whole point of the first post was to point out that it is a little ridiculous to knock a kid that just gave his heart and soul to something and came up short.

I agree, I think that quote is disgusting.

The kid is diabetic. He has to give himself 3-4 shots every single game just to play. Sometimes his coach has to take him out so that he can get his shot. It was his last college game, because he knows that he wont live as long as people that dont have diabetes, so hes jumping to the NBA because he doesnt have as much time as everyone else. So he put all his heart and effort into his last game, only to have his college career end with a loss.

But lets keep laughing at him, very classy.

"Not a day goes by in which Morrison isnt calling, writing or signing for a diabetic kid."-Rick Reilly in SI.

Hes a good kid, its really sick how you can sit there and be amused when he has too go through all that shit just to play.

Uh, well nobody is laughing at him or is amused because he is diabetic. That also doesn't give him a free pass from criticism about anything else either though. I have been critical of his antics, but that's as far as I've taken it. If you disagree with that, perfectly fine. But just because I don't buy into a kid crying before a game is over, doesn't mean I "lack class" or that I would make fun of a disease that one of my best friends has. Some people love Morrison, some love Reddick, and whatever, to each their own. I don't happen to. Personally, I think this argument has dragged on long enough.

I've barely watched UCLA play all year... if farmar started crying during crunch time I'd call him on it too.

bkb, he got emotional before it was surely his last game. That is the knock on his emotions last night.

Maybe I don't follow Gonzaga B-ball close enough, but is there some reason to rip on him?

I mean, if he was that skiing dude... what's his name... Bode Miller, I could see it.. But, this guy just played his last game and got emotional. So what? But again, maybe he's a prick. I don't know.

I'm sure you'll get varying responses depending on which side of the above issue people are on. As I said, I think this has dragged on long enough, so I'm going to abstain from this one.

It doesnt matter why people are laughing at him. The fact is hes a college kid crying because he just lost his last college basketball game. WHy would that be amusing to anyone at all?

And no where did I say that somebody was laughing at him because he is diabetic. The kid has a ton of heart and puts up with alot just to be able to play the game. He can cry all he wants before during or after the game, why should anyone here even care?

As far as I'm concerned, you can have the last word if you want it. The tournament is moving on, doubtless Morrison is moving on...time for us to move on.

Why do you care so much about people laughing at his outrageous bawling. I don't know why you're trying to bring the diabetic card in this either as it is irrelevant.

I think the fact that none of his teammates, that know him more then any of us, went and made sure "he was okay" says a lot about him and his actions.

His last game? He'll get drafted by somebody somewhere, there are however, a ton of players who will not be drafted by anyone and really play there last games that handle themselves much better. He was just being a big wuss about it plan and simple. For the record, I dislike J.J. Reddick, but saw his crying as no big deal, but Morrison opened himself up to insults by his theatrical performance during the final seconds where he separated himself from the rest of the team. Either way, new games tart up in a few minutes so I'm done with this topic anyways.
