FWIW, the 1st round Big 10 teams shot 71 FT's, compared to their opponents shooting 44 FT's.
So far the 2nd round looks like this:
Big 10 FTs: 17
Opponents FTs: 80
Jwinslow posted something a few pages back, it said Illinois had more lay-ups than Washington, so they were attacking the rim just as much if not more...
Alway harpin' on the refs.
First off let me start on the Indiana game and as I said above, they didnt attack the rim at all, they shot 20 3's in the second half and probably 30 for the game, don't know the official stats.
As for Illinois, they committed some stupid fouls out top, and some of their guys werent quick enough to stay with the guys driving to the hole, causing hand check fouls. Washington is a very quick team and that is their style of play. They get to the line, they draw the foul.
I am going to use a NBA example here, but take LBJ and Mike Redd for example, Redd is a jump shooter, who gets his points that way and James takes the ball to the hole and draws the contact. Alot of times it isnt just shooting the ball in close, it is how you use the pump fake and draw the contact of the opposing players.
You are always going to get more calls when you are taking it aggresively to the hole. I know not every call is a foul and not every non call isnt a non foul, but when you are pumpfaking and the D is off its feet and you swat down, 9times outta 10 they are goign to call a foul.
As for all you guys saying Morrison gets a lot of calls, well he didnt really recieve alot tonite, and we he did, I felt they were legit. Killingsworth might be one of the stupidest players in terms of staying out of foul trouble, the one time after the guy clearly had the Defensive rebound, he just tried to go for the steal and committed the foul.
Officiating that I don't like is when it is inconsistent, when they are letting you play physical and then the next second they are not. Kind of like an up and down style of reffing.
