Official 2006 NCAA Tournament Discussion Thread

updating now that the games have finished:

Duke, UCLA, Florida seized control early. Duke was in control but took awhile to pull away. The rest of the 8 teams were in a dogfight for most of the game.

#1 seeds:

UConn struggles, and trails, until later in the 2nd half.
Memphis leads by 2 with 4 min to go.
Nova never put away monmouth, 7 pt lead with 6 to go.
Duke finally gained a comfortable lead in the last "quarter" of the game.

#2 seeds:

OSU 6 pt lead with 4 to go.
UCLA leads by double digits at halftime and then never looks back.
Tenn wins the game on a last second shot.
Texas led by 6 with 1 to go.

#3 seeds:

Gonzaga leads by 1 inside of a minute.
UNC never in control, tied with 1 to go.
Iowa chokes away the game at the line and loses on a buzzer beater.
Florida, somewhat close at half, commanding lead in the 2nd half.

Yeah there is soooo much parity in college bball.

I saw a thing today about the avergae margin of victory for a 1 over a 16 used to be like 30+ pts and now it is down in the teens.

Sometime in the near future, within 5 years we will see a 1 go down and 2's will start going down more often too.

Overall a nice first couple days to start the tourney.

This is a certainty in College Basketball. It is soooo close every year. At some point in time, IT, will play out. IT may even happen sooner. I think a 1 will fall with in the next 2 years. A 2 within the next 2 years also. Teams are too competetive now, and the low seeds are willing to "give it their all" in the first rounds.

well, i was 12-4 on Thursday, and my sweet 16 was still intact.
i was not nearly as good on Friday, and i have lost a Final Four Team, an elite 8 team and 3 sweet 16 teams...

the only good thing is that pretty much everyone else's bracket is fucked too...
