Official 2006 BP Mock Draft Thread

Yep not that Watson is a bad pick per se. - I hope though that on real draft day Marvin has them take either Pope or one of the CB prospects (of which I think Youbouty is probably the best left in this Mock Draft).

Agreed. I wouldn't be terribly upset if Cromartie was still left come pick 24.

seems to me that this would be a good year for cinci to trade down and try to gets a couple of extra picks. There doesn't look to be any stand out defenders left....especially in the secondary. TE is the deepest spot in the league. I would think that Klopenstien, the ND kid, or maybe David Thomas (who is supposedly shooting up boards) would be great in the late second round or early third. Just some thoughts from a guy that doesn't really follow the team.

a trade offer for them was on the table, but since they decided to not grace us with their presence they lost out on it. It was a pretty generous offer too.

What was it? We could always rescind the pick, right? You ARE the boss. You can do what you want!
I'm not really in the mood for rewarding people for not making their pick.....especially when they have 2 reps.

however, you ARE the 2005 BP College Fantasy Football Champion, and that carries some weight. I'll let the trade offerer post the trade in here if he still wants it and the Bungle fans can speak their mind about it. If the Giants pick before all this takes place, then too bad.

Sounds good.

Well, stxbuck isn't online, so here's the deal he offered:

San Fran gets pick #24
Cinci gets picks #37 & #61.

However, pick #61 belongs to Denver. San Fran's next pick is #68. So the deal isn't as enticing as I once thought, but there it is.

Better make it quick though, I see the Giants lurking....

If they do something like that on Draft Day I wonder if Kiper's hair will burst into flames :tongue2:

With the 25th pick of the 2006 NFL Draft, the Giants have selected Demeco Ryans, LB, Alabama.

The Giants tried moving up in the draft with several futile attempts. With Cromartie off the board, the Giants were down to Greenway and Ryans. While Ryans may need to bulk up, his smarts (Academic All American) and leadership qualities made the decision easy.

Berman - "And the Giants pick Demeco Ryans 'Steakhouse' with the 25th pick. I can't believe they didn't take Chad 'Chip the ball on the' Greenway. What's your thoughts Mel Kiper?"

Kiper- "I can't believe this pick...once again the Giants prove they're not as smart as me...as a matter of fact no GM is as smart as me. Next year let me make all the picks and declare April 22nd Mel Kiper Jr. Day. What're you staring at?"

Berman - "Ugh...the Bears are on the clock."

The Bears have 3 areas of need...TE, which everyone but Angelo agrees is an abject disaster, WR, where there are a lot of injuries and deadweight behind an underachieving "franchise" player, and defensive back, where Tillman got torched in the playoffs and injuries plague the safty corps, and with Azumah gone, there is a big hole at nickel back as well.

Given this, and the fact that Lovie Smith was at his pro day workout, it is impossible for the Bears to pass up:

"With the, uh, 26th pick in the 2006 NFL draft, the Bears select Ashton Youboty, defensive back, THE Ohio State University"

"With the 27th pick in the 2006 NFL draft, the Carolina Panthers select Manny Lawson, defensive end, North Carolina State."

The panthers are shocked that he is still on the board, while most mocks had him going in the top-12 picks. At a lean 6'6 250 lbs. and 4.41 speed, Lawson will be a freak at the next level. The panthers already have the best defensive line in all of football, now they have a playmaker at linebacker that can practically dominate a game with his speed and ability. How can a offense be successful against a defense with the likes of Julius Peppers, Kris Jenkins, Dan Morgan, Chris Gamble, and now....Manny Lawson.

With the 28th pick the Jacksonville Jaguars select CHAD GREENWAY, LB IOWA.

With the poor play from OLBs Daryl Smith and the departure from Akin Ayodele, there is no question Jacksonville needs an OLB. Del Rio is extatic that Greenway fell this far because of his combine workouts. All worries from the poor combine results were quickly fixed with his impressive performance at his individual workouts where he was clocked at 4.56.
