Official 2006 BP Mock Draft Thread

A reach is someone that is a suprise to be drafted in that particular spot, he wasn't.
So if someone is drafted before they should be, even if it was popular at the time, what do you call that? (honest question) Bust seems to speak to the player's performance, not the grade of the pick.
He started from day 1 on a defense that went from #26 overall to #3 overall and was 4th on the team in tackles. He was no where near a reach and even at this point , I'd take him at #7 again.
I'll defer to those like 27 (and you probably) who have watched huff more often.

I haven't seen too much of Huff. Surprisingly, CBS and Fox weren't in any big hurry to show Oakland games on the other side of the country very often

I think that you both make valid points, but I would say that a reach is when you stretch to grab someone out of need.

In hindsight Huff might not of been the best pickup due to Whitner playing as well as he did as a rookie, but being 4th on the team in tackles as a rookie is something to right home about...

That sounds like a reach. Whitner was called a reach by many on dfart day. Most mock drafts last year had the Raiders taking Vince
Young or Huff. Young was gone, so Huff was the pick, hence not really a reach , considering he was the top rated db by mostly everyone.

I watched nearly every Raider game this season (yea, I'm the dumbass)
and while he wasn't perfect, he got better every game, made tackles when he should have and took correct angles to the ball carrier, something that hasn't happened since Derrick Gibson started playing the position.

Did Whitner play better? It would seem so, based on All Rookie teams. But, Huff did nothing to warrant his draft position being deemed a reach. He will continue to be a valuable member of the defense.

I guess the bottom line is it's just semantics. Perhaps you could have used a different word, as you said earlier. I'm not sure what that word would be, since he did have a pretty good season.

You want to talk reach, just wait to see who I select first in the draft this April.
