Official 2006 BP Mock Draft Thread

Stovall just doesn't seem like a Patriots type receiver. I am leaning towards LB but since I have a pick coming up I prefer not to vote.

Stovall is more of a Patriots type receiver than Nicholson is a Patriots type linebacker. Hell, I was thinking of taking Nicholson, but his off-the-field crap scared me away. I doubt NE would even give him a chance.

BB73 makes Stovall official.
The Giants sent me their picks, the first was Gerris Wilkinson. I don't think the Texans would allow this, so their second pick of Roman Harper, S, Alabama.

Chicago is up.

Here's my pick wrapup.

Unfortunately, the Giants GM is a moron and didn't see Wilkinson off the board. The Roman Harper pick doesn't disappoint them though. The Giants need a field general on defense and everything I've read about hims says he's like having a defensive coordinator on the field.

Some mock drafts have him sliding to the second day but that'd be a steal for any team in the real draft. The kid is a little small and doesn't have much room to grow but his intangibles say he'll be a starting safety in the NFL for a long time.

I know this has nothing to do with the current mock or like we can go back and change this but there has been a real trade today.

San Francisco gets #22
Denver gets #37 & #68

So now San Francisco has 2 picks in the first round.

I hate to get off topic, but San Fran quantity more than quality IMO, so I don't think that is a good trade for them, right now, b/c what if the guy they want doesnt fall. This should of been a draft day trade if you ask me.

Yesterday I heard Kiper say that the 9ers were interested in taking Carp with their second round pick, it is possible however that they moved up to make sure they could get him.

that is a real option. another thing that has to be considered now is that they have the ammo to go get reggie bush should they chose to.

from the denver standpoint I have heard that they are trying to possision themselves to trade Green Bay for Jevon Walker

That is an excellent trade for San Francisco, given that they had 2 3rd round picks. They desperately need an outside pass rusher, and at #22 they should have their choice of Carpenter, Lawson, or Wimbley. This draft is deep at DB, but not at OLB/DE.

Well, the Bears are happy so far, because they've been able to get a versatile DB from "DB U" and also address the glaring hole at TE in round 2. Their final position of immediate need is WR, with Bradley and Currie hurt, Berlin limited, Berrian too streaky, and Justin Gage pretty much being officially deadweight. They need a Ricky Prohl,Brandon Stokley-like possession guy, someone to open up space for Mush and Bradley, if he can play. This may be the worst crop of wideouts since God knows when, but there is still one solid contributor from a major conference out there:

"With their 3rd round pick, the Bears select Mike Haas, WR, Oregon State".

With the 25th pick in the third round, the Carolina Panthers select Maurice Drew, RB, UCLA.

With Davis gone, and Foster injury-prone, the Panthers select Maurice Drew, an electrifying runner in the open field with great speed and quickness. The Panthers are in love with this guy, and are ecstatic that he lasts this far when most fans were screaming to draft this guy in the second round.
