I am mystified why Lyons isn't in there instead of Gonzales... not sure I have confidence in Gonzales in clutch situations.. lacks concentration...

I think he went one for two in those situations today. Did not come down with that one near the sidelines where he had to turn around, but he picked up a nice first down on a critical third and long. It's my impression he has been playing because of his blocking ability.

I think we should give Gonzalez a few more chances however. He almost came down with that ball, and it wasn't a simple one. Hall had a less excusable drop last week taht Smith landed right in his hands on a bomb. He did do an excellent job running that route during the 2 min drill as well. Plus once UM decides to worry about Ginn too much (and I'm sure they also have their eye on Holmes, if only for what he did in his freshman year and the 1st half of this year), that will free up players like Hall, Gonzalez to make big plays for us.

Both Zwick and Smith have a problem with overthrowing receivers. IF i were Holmes I would want to smack them silly, he gets so open, so often and then the balls are overthrown. OUr lack of passing efficiency (along with a myriad of others things) makes us a below average offensive team. I am not convinced that Troy has shown me he is the btter options at QB yet. He has won 3in a row which is great. Granted, IU was a pretty weak contest, but he and Zwick can't hit the deep ball when we need it to break games.
