Just wanted to pass on to everyone that I made it in safe to Korea last night...or yesterday, whatever the hell it was. Still trying to adjust to the time change. I'm living on Yongsan Army Garrison right in the heart of Seoul, so should be an interesting and entertaining year. Us USAF weather guys and dolls have our own dormitory, and we get our own rooms so its not so bad. Gonna be strange getting up (or more likely staying up to) at 2 in the morning to watch the Bucks, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

I had a great TDY to Seoul once.
(stayed at the Seoul Hilton - very nice restaurants there)
Lotsa good dining in town - squid w/veggies in a very hot sauce over rice
was something not to forget.
Remember that the merchants at Itaewon are there to rip you off !!

Best wishes

Seoul is a great place to be stationed. You have all the shops right outside your gates. On top of that, one of the largest bus depot's is on Yongsan so you are able to take buses to any other base easier than most people. I would recommend that you check out the shopping around some of the other slightly smaller bases there. The shopping is good everywhere but I remember it being even cheaper in some of those other places. Try as many different foods as you can while there. They have some great eats!!

The McDonalds sucks. :(

I wonder if you shouldn't just get yourself a cheap ride(in the states).
And buy a motorcycle/boat/Skeedoo for thrills! :tongue2:

What's your plan? Gonna stay in the service for a while?

Got over ten years now, so yeah, gonna retire. A couple weeks of leave back in good old NE Ohio then off to Colorado Springs.
