Future OC and head coach.

I'm not sure that that is what he wants... if I recall correctly, he doesn't have HC aspirations. I think this might be a LJ situation where Hardline turns into the WR guru and gets paid a shitton of money to be our WR and Associate Head coach until he retires. He has his NFL money, is at is alma mater... I don't see him getting poached UNLESS he does want to be a HC.

Buckeye brass needs to start backing up Brinks trucks to keep these assistant coaches here as long as they want to be here.

I agree with both posts. While Hartline appears he may be content to be our WR coach for a long time, he still needs to be compensated at his worth because loyalty to your alma mater only goes far when some other team flashed double what you currently make in your face...

I'm curious about the status of Hartline's entrepreneurial ventures in Reynoldsburg and elsewhere too. As of 2014 he owned a drive-thru, a gas station, and a car wash, and was working the counters and mopping floors during the off season. Wonder if he ever expanded, sold his ownership stake, or what? Haven't heard anymore about it since. If he's still holding an ownership stake in businesses around the area he may be hesitant to leave. Position coach at OSU offers just the right amount of stimuli to scratch the football itch without the headaches of running the entire show.

Very much so! Again, in the vein of a Larry Johnson. He may happy in basically a dream job for him, but we should compensate him appropriately. Give him whatever titles he needs to move into those pay brackets and make him a keystone part of the program in any and all ways.

Of course, this assumes he maintains his development as a coach and recruiter... which I think he will. Regular evaluations with Gene and the HC (Day and then whomever) should coincide with some nice pay boosts.
