My conversation is "How do we know Arthur Smith is the reason why we're scoring with seconds to go at the end of each half?"

If you want to assume something that I'm not asking, that's on you....not me. I want this to be a good hire. I want to like the guy. I want to be wrong like I was about Patricia. So I ask a question. And I get a bunch of bullshit in response.

Since you've decided you're the arbiter of how this conversation is going, I thought you'd like all the info.

The most impressive thing Smith has help in is with the Offense scoring six straight TDs to end the first half in the last minute of our first six games.

So, oh decider of all things on BuckeyePlanet and knower of the secret hidden meanings behind questions, how would I be able to word my question to get a genuine answer of what is it that Arthur Smith is doing that leads to scoring TDs at the end of halfs? "Calling plays" doesn't really answer the question.....since every OC calls plays. Is it a philosophy? Is it HIS philosophy? Is it coincidental? Are there match ups that are being taken advantage of? Are we going no huddle? Do we script a handful of plays to quickly get chunk yards and hold on to them for when we get the ball with a minute or so? I actually want to know if this is a skill set of his, which would put a notch in the Pro column of the hire.

But we didn't get any of that conversation, because you and others assumed what I was really saying was "It's definitely NOT Arthur Smith and fuck you for thinking it is".

I am a huge fan of Art Smith. He isn't being appreciated enough from the fan base.

It seems like the offense keeps building on itself and showing some new looks and wrinkles every game.

The Oline and TE room have been suspect to bad with blocking so far and he seems to adjust accordingly.

I have no problem with the the offense being JJ centric because it is working.

Neat....another answer that would've been productive. I don't remember specifics like that from last year.........not saying I doubt you (for anybody reading this and deciding the secret meaning of what I'm really saying)....this just isn't something that stays in my memory a year after the fact when comparing to this year.

For the same reason that you'd be all over him if/when the results bear out the opposite.

The leaders get the blame and the scorn. Ryan gets more than Arthur.



This is not remotely complicated. People dared to say something nice about a buckeye coach turning things around on offense, and you took offense to that approach.

Why is this so personal to you? That's a great question, and what @Thump was getting at. But it sure is.


You're demanding nuanced dialogue and measured responses after scoffing at the idea of him deserving any credit here. It's not confusing in the slightest.


You want to keep him in the pittsburgh box. He might fail or thrive here, but it won't have anything to do with a professional league flooded with benchwarmers that are so talented that almost any of them transferring to OSU tomorrow would transform any unit on this buckeye team. It will be because of how he deploys these incomplete rosters against the other flawed ones at other schools.

This is obviously a loud and entrenched part of your approach here. And not just because it happened for a large portion of the off-season. The tone is alive and well.

That's not nuanced. That's not saying, interesting, expand on that a bit so I can see things from your side, which is what you apparently meant to type but did the opposite.

It's not even asking if we're getting ahead of ourselves getting too optimistic before the tougher opponents arrive.

We'd all love to be wrong and have our feared weaknesses become thriving strengths.

I'm not here to claim Arthur is a savant. I'm just explaining what you actually typed.

Can I get a schedule on when I should check in with who? It's really confusing to think you mean one thing, but then have it explained what I actually meant.

So just so I'm clear on your helpful lessons...

When you said

What you actually meant was:

"I'm very hopeful that all of this can be attributed to Arthur, I'd just prefer to ask a leading question that I don't intend to lead where it's going"

I happen to think that Arthur deserves solid early season praise while we still wait to exhale fully until we see how it ends. But after the clown show that was the last scheme down the stretch... And how it decimates Ryan day's CEO abilities.. a true professional approach is a breath of fresh air.

Even if it's just to try and work towards semi steady instead of great. Which this year might be the right ticket... Bc this ol, rb, te units and non jeremiah veteran wrs have a lot of imperfect pieces.

May be enough in the right hands. Hopefully those hands are arthurs
