Observations from the corner of the family room with a blanket over my head

The Good
Well, the good thing was meeting some BPers, we met MrCodeDude, Wells, Mili and BB73, overall some great people I hope to see again. The tailgate was pretty out of control, we drank a lot, we partied, a lot of cool USC fans. There was a few douchebags, but that was to be expected.

The Bad
Man, I am seriously sunburned, also, I showed up about 3 hours later than I needed and we had to carry a folding table, a small grill and a cooler full of beer across the USC campus. That sucked, but when we got there, we got to hang out with some cool people.

The Ugly
Sigh, overall, when it comes to the Bucks I try to be a positive guy. But, right now, it's hard to see anything positive about this game. We were bullied around in every aspect of this game. Seeing it on TV probably sucked, but seeing it live was just.... well, it was almost surreal.

I can make a million excuses, Beanie wasn't there, the travel aspect, the last minute notice that we were going to be out our tailback, but the reality is, we were just pushed around. This game made the 2006 NC game almost look respectable, at least we could score a touchdown then.

Is USC that good?
Well, I sure fucking hope so, I hope this team is the greatest thing ever to come to college football, otherwise, it's a tough pill to swallow. Maybe these guys are all ringers that are really USC players, Tom Brady never got hurt, he's just decided to play at USC as his alias Mark Sanchez.

Is tOSU that bad?
All of these kids came back, maybe it's a chemistry thing, maybe it's the trip to Cali, or maybe it's just that we are still rebuilding from 2006 and our expectations are too high. I don't really know, I wish I did, it's been a long time since I have really seem the Bucks bullied around in every aspect of the game like that.

Is the Big 10 that bad?
Well, there's some steps that the big ten needs to make, as much as I hate to say it, we are behind the curve in a lot of aspects. Big Ten football works well in the NFL game, the smash mouth football is what the NFL is all about, however, college football isn't the NFL. College Football is about tricks, speed and running quarterbacks. The change is in place, Hairplugs is moving tsun to the spread, Joepa has a nice spread going and with Pryor coming to OSU, you can bet that the bucks will be utilizing that style in the next year.

I don't really know what to say, it is what it is. It was an ass beating, it could have been worse, but I think CPC has something remaining in his heart that lead him to take his foot off the throat.

We still have Big Ten play ahead of us, this is a setback and this will be a real chance for Tressel to show he can do what Woody did. We got our ass kicked this year, can JT make a comeback next year and return the favor? I sure as hell hope so.

Go Bucks!

Good to read a few funny posts this morning. OSU lost to a a very good team a team that has been among the very best for a while now. So OSU
lost what 3-4 games in the last years, how about being a fan of a team that won 3 games last year, a team that every laughs at, a team that has a fat coach...... you get it.:biggrin:

Wear you Buckeye gear with pride today and have a great day. Smile, laugh and make plans to watch the Buckeyes in a BCS game.

When I think of the very best in college football OSU is always one of the teams I think of. KEEP THE FAITH.

Thanks for the pep talk! Just when I think it cannot get any lower, I look around at all the MeatChicken fans and see what the bottom of the barrel looks like. :wink2:

Well, I am out from under the blanket and not as hung over as I thought I would be after celebrating my birthday and watching the game, both of which combined to lead to much drinking....

My observation, as astute as it is, after the past three major games (UF, LSU, USC) that we have played in is that there is something amiss. I am not sure if it is coaching, game planning and preparation, players, intensity or some combination there of. It feels sort of like fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me, fool me three times....Is there a third time....

Here is what I have observed while under the blanket.....

  1. We always score first in these games...
  2. We are getting our hats handed to us in the trenches on both offense and defense.
  3. Our QB's have struggled to find our receivers.
  4. Our receivers have struggled to get open and make the play when the QB finds them.
  5. We seem to have forgotten the TE position exists and can be a vital part of the offense.
  6. We struggle to adjust our game plan when things don't go as planned.
  7. We aren't making any game changing momentum shifting plays....okay we had Teddy's kickoff return.....
  8. We draw the ire of the zebras at all the wrong times and way to often....
  9. The Silver Bullets.....where are the Silver Bullets....
  10. We have played some damn fine teams with great players and coaches....
I don't know how this team will respond after this latest outing, but I do know that I will be watching, rooting and supporting them every step of the way....

I'm embarrassed and ashamed. We need to take a look in the mirror as a program. This team is better than this. I'd like to be captain positivity today, but we got whopped, plain and simple. The losses to Florida and LSU in the NC game were hard to digest, but this is the worst. So many questions flying through my head from talent to coaching. I just wish we could've played a better game. Today sucks.

Why , in God's name would anyone be embarassed or ashamed ? It's foot ball game and everyone in the world knew that USC has a great team and even predicted this outcome.
True, we got beat but it is never ever correct to be embarassed over our team . It is our team and they played as Buckeyes and you should never forget that.
It really [censored]es me off when people say they are embarassed about any tOSU team.
