O.J. Mayo (Official Thread)

I heard the rumor yesterday and see that Kyle Lamb discusses it in his "Schott in the Arm" column today (can't speak on it though because I don't have premium, but based on the teaser, the topics are extremely interesting to me). Is Mayo just blowing smoke or is he seriously reconsidering us?

Either way, I'm hoping he's not reconsidering us. I don't want a troublemaker and the kid has trouble written all over him (not sure who's worse between him and Walker, actually). Besides, we already have a freakish amount of talent on the team coming in and there's no room for a prima donna on this basketball team.
IMO, we need one more wing player, and Mayo would be perfect. He is freakishly good.. and probably a one and done. In one year, hopfeully he can't cause that much trouble... although MoC was here a year, and well, we know how that turned out.

SO, I have heard he may want to seperate himself from Walker (rumor on O-Zone thread) and now that he has interest in Ohio State. Any chance he becomes a Buckeye?

At this point, I would say everything out there is only rumor but that if he wanted to seperate himself from Walker, then Ohio State would try to get involved immediately.

There are indications he may want to play elsewhere next year. According to "sources" close to him he is looking at schools who have a legit shot to win the national title when he comes out and OSU is on that list, but at this point who really knows if he is serious, only time will tell.

Mayo has had some trouble this past year, that is on record but prior to that he was fine off the court. On the court he is a team player and that is a fact. If Matta thought he could be a problem, then they wouldn't be interested.

If Mayo is sincerely interested, OSU will hold a spot for him in the slim chance he decided to come to OSU, without a doubt he is a one and done player.
