I didn't expect that kind of a blowout! Loved every minute of it, though. Way to go, boys.

Carmody's take- Matta blamed himself for the Buckeyes having four turnovers in the first seven minutes of the game, and only five more the rest of the way. He said he prepared them for the wrong defense.
"Going into this game, (assistant coach Chris Jent) and I were talking, and I said, 'I can?t believe Northwestern?s playing man-to-man (defense). All the years I?d seen them play this 2-3 matchup (zone), and they hadn?t played it all season.' Then, voila, there it was the first possession of the game."
Ohio State and the Wildcats played to a 13-13 tie the first seven minutes before the Buckeyes exploded with a 20-2 run. Seven of Northwestern's first 13 points came off the four Ohio State turnovers.
"I thought our guys did a pretty good job of improvising" after that, Matta said, "because we kind of rolled the (dice) of saying they?re not going to play (zone), but they did."
http://www.buckeyextra.com/content/blogs/hoops-and-scoops/2011/12/12-28-postgame-northwestern.html- Northwestern coach Bill Carmody, who suffered his most lopsided loss to Ohio State -- the 33-point margin was the largest since 1991 -- said he was "very disappointed" how his team played "at both ends of the court."
"I knew it would be tough defensively. They have a number of different guys who can score, and can score inside and out," he said.
"I just thought we?d be able to get better shots than we did, and they had something to do with that.
"We took bad shots, ill-advised shots. Not in the flow. If you run a certain set and the shot comes out of that, usually those shots go in more often. It just seemed like after 10 seconds of running our offense, it would break down and guys were trying to beat their guy. We?re not going to beat those guys doing that."
John Shurna in particular disappointed Carmody. Shurna, a senior, came in as the Big Ten's leading scorer, averaging 19.4 points per game. He finished with 11 points and missed 13 of 18 shots from the field.
"He just didn?t have a good game in any regard, I didn?t think," Carmody said. "He looked tired. He wasn?t doing things decisively. . . . He wasn?t doing anything as hard as he can or should."
Carmody contrasted Shurna's night with William Buford's. The Ohio State senior scored a career-high 28 points.
