Ntre Ame 49, Hawaii 21 (Final)

Too bad Hawaii blows ass. If ND wins they'll probably be in the preseason top 5!!1@@

Preseason? I wouldn't be shocked to see them top 10 this season.

I have a feeling Heavy Weisen is about to pull a 1994 Cooper on ND's ass. Job on the line a clearly insufficient coach pulls one out of his ass and forces them to keep him around another 6 years. The last few years resemble the first few years and that one outlier haunts the ND faithful forever.

#$%$#@% decided schematic advantage

Don't let it get you down.

Ntre Ame loses by 50 to either Boise State or TCU and I do wonder what an offense like Troy would do to their defense too....

Not to mention what ALL of the BCS teams, including Utah, would do to them.

Let the domers come out of the woodwork, it's going to be fun watching them become deflated again

Surely even Domers aren't going to be bragging about beating a god-awful Hawai'i team.

Oh my, you don't know any Domer fans do you?

By the time they air freight CW's fat ass back to South Bend this will have become the greatest act of human persevearance in the face of overwhelming odds since the battle of Thermopolye.

In future years, it will be referred to use the greatest football game every played. Where the pickle proved his name belongside the greats. I am already scanning Domer boards, the general consensus is that if they had played all season like they did tonight they would be 11-1.

Yeah well if Charlie skipped about 8 of his 11 meals every day he'd weigh under 200lbs too.

Difference is, Weis technically can skip those meals. Ntre Ame can't play this well against the big dogs. They suck. UH is in a major rebuilding year and mid-majors don't exactly have blue-chippers waiting in the wings so it shouldn't be very hard to blow them out. Ntre Ame is still a shitty team and program(not all-time, just currently).

Obviously, you know maybe ONE fan.... I am not trying to be a jerk but SERIOUSLY you guys have no clue.

As I have said before I live minutes away from the Dome and the average SB area fan is nothing like the one you all supposedly know....

Yeah ND one, they finally played a team in a bowl game that they could beat other than the usual over rated ND team that got waxed in a game they did not deserve to be in. Still can't run the ball as the o-line coach sux. Until ND gets interiior lineman on both sides of the ball that can control the line of scrimmage not much much has changed.
The majority of fans I know still hate CW and will bitch that they one a bowl game with him as the coach. THE WIN WILL PROBABLY PROLONG THE AGONY.....

They will in fact be happy for the kids.
There is hope.......the team is VERY young.
JC finally played like he did earlier on this past season but Dane Crist still deserves a shot at the QB job next year.
One game bowl winning streak baby !!! It is nice to be able to say that.

There is an alternative explanation for the opinions about Notre Dame fans that are expressed in the thread, Chief. Perhaps Notre Dame fans away from South Bend are everything that people here say they are. I have a close friend in Notre Dame that is not, another who is. But, I can tell you I have met more than a hundred away from South Bend who are everything described here.

Congratulations to Notre Dame for a bowl win.

Rest assured the "sports entertainment" folks will forget that a 7-6 Hawaii team, that ranked below #80 in the Sagarin's, was beaten by a #57 ranked Irish team. Instead, by the start of next year, the ESPiN's of the world will be telling us that "Notre Dame is back" once again. And, once again, Notre Dame will enter the season ranked in the top 25.

In response to that perceived good fortune, Notre Dame fans everywhere will be telling us all about those wonderful stories from more than half a century ago about a storied program that once mattered in college football but really matters no more.

For many of us, we will see the truth in what you say and, for that, surely you deserve some condolences. This win will just make it harder to fire Weis next year. It will prolong the agony and further destroy the Notre Dame brand. Personally, I don't think that is good for Midwestern teams in general.
