2. OSU made it to the last 2 title games but it faired no better reputation/win wise than ND did in it's last few BCS games. Both would have been better off playing in easier bowl games.
1. Nearly 2500 posts is hardly a little time. But the point isn't the time you spend. Life is what you do once you're there, Chief.
2. Suggest that you visit a few sports sites and check out your Domer opinion for widespread endorsement. Knowledgeable people were amazed that Ohio State "over-achieved in a rebuilding year".
Few people would not put Ohio State in the top three programmes this decade. And Notre Dame? Even in the Top 25 this decade? Don't think so. By the way, the decade is almost over.
How many BCS bowls have we earned the right to play in, not found our way in on a handicap system that rewards our whining, but played our way into on the same criteria by which every other team was judged? And Notre Dame? What is our record in BCS bowls? And Notre Dame? Oh, that's right. Haven't won a bowl game in this century and for a long time in the last. There is no dishonor in losing two BCS championship games. As for next year, there's a whole lotta people who are picking Ohio State to have a good chance to go back yet again. Of course, we have a head coach who gets to national championship games about 40% of the time, so I guess that isn't all that hard to predict. And, if Ohio State get there a third time, I think we might just see a different outcome. I have some difficulty seeing any basis for comparing Notre Dame to a team that has embarrassed them three times in the last decade.
Having addressed the questions you raised, let me return to the central element of my earlier posts. What did you hope to gain by making those comments?
You need to realize something. Nothing you say is going to change the way any of us feel about Charlie Weis or any team he coaches. Nothing you say will convince us to ignore the objective evidence that Notre Dame is the most over-rated team in football. Nothing you say will change our opinion about the arrogance of your coach and fans.
However, what you do can change attitudes toward you and your team. It's by the fruit that we know the tree.
For instance, how about stopping the insults. Consider the backhanded remark you make in this post about the time people spend on BP. It doesn't deflect the spotlight placed on your behavior and it is an irrelevant point. Are you suggesting that you aren't on other message boards as much as anyone is here. Would it be better if our members spent their time watching mindless prime time TV? Instead of focusing on the fact that we have a thread focused on serious discussion of ND football and making a meaningful contribution there, you spend your time slumming around over here.
If people want to come to BP and share conversation with their Buckeye friends, then I think its a good thing that they do. What do you know about their lives? Who are you to judge them adversely for doing so? How many times have they put up with your insults, nonsensical Domer-centric revelations, and, yes, tearful farewells. How many bans? How much nonsense? And then, how many times have they let you return?
And, yet, these are the very people you insult?
Only your behavior can change the way you are treated here Chief. And, if this seems like a public dressing down, it is. But I am writing because I remember the guy who defended Ohio State during the ESPiN attack, not only here but on Notre Dame boards and I'd like to see that guy make a decent contribution, but not at any price. There are plenty of Notre Dame fans here now that do that anyway.
Of course, you can choose to keep coming here to tilt at windmills and insult our members but, personally, I don't think you are going to like the outcome.
