C'mon, man, let's be realistic. If only the greatest football coach, AND I MEAN GREATEST EVER, the incomparable, immeasurable, insatiable, Charlie Weisenhiemer, had a month to prepare for those games against scUM and USC, VLoyd and Petey wouldn't have had a chance. Hell, look at what he did when he had a month to prepare for JT's boys last year.

BTW, yet another blessing during this weekend which we give thanks! I am very thankful that a national audience was able to see once again that ND is not on the same stage as the major players in college football. Overrated and overhyped....that is ND.

The thing I can't believe is that all the assclowns in the studios and booths gush over Weis for being a one-man offensive dynasty, yet completely give him a free pass for having one of the worst D-I defenses imaginable. It's like they all want to believe he is still a coordinator, and somehow not responsible for how bad his defense is. Spurrier, a REAL offensive genius, also had good defenses at Florida...yet Weis has a bunch of guys who can make a great tackle 15 yards downfield or after giving up a 40 yard reception. Boggles the mind, especially after tonight's USC game.

I have said it before and I will say it again...

Heaven help the team that faces Charlie and the Domers under the spotlight of a bowl game. You just cannot beat the man after he has brought his team to another 2 loss season with a full 5 weeks to prepare.

He is just too good...

I sat through that whole game thinking to myself, is USC this good or is ND just that bad. I still am not sure.

They both looked pretty terrible at times, but I think ND's (lack of) defense wins the award for being the worst thing on the field tonight.

SC's defense seems like the opposite of Michigan's - shaky d-line, but outstanding corners and safties. SC couldn't get a decent pass rush with their front 4 on ND's pathetic o-line...Troy will have all day to make something happen in the pocket.

Will we try and pound them with the run? Spread them out and play their DB's straight-up? Whatever we do, it'll be the right call cause JT made it clear this year that he is on a different level when it comes to playcalling, compared to the so called "geniuses" of college football in Carroll and Weis.

Someone on here once said " you can't fix slow". That was fitting for this game, USC's Prime receiver just ate up the defense. ND found out what it is like to play a good team. I had to laugh, the heads were saying that the three losses of ND in the last two years were all to ranked teams. That is all the ranked teams they have played in the last two years.

Yes...

When hype and media love becomes more important than substance, you have yet another Notre Dame team who couldn't hold the jock straps of their opponents. You've got to be kidding me, even Las Vegas gave them credit they didn't deserve. Those guys are usually pretty good about this shit. This line should have been 17-21 points against a solid, but less than spectacular USC team and anyone who thinks otherwise is a fucking moron...Easy vMoney, but now we have a month and a half for the subway alums (morons) in the media to rehabilitate ND's and Weis' image and convince the idiots that they have a chance of beating any legitimate top ten BCS team...The only team that ND can possibly beat in a BCS game is Boise State, and I think they lose to them as well...They are at least 10 points worse than every other possible BCS opponent...Fucking ridiculous how so little achievement gets so much adoration...

LOS ANGELES ? No need for any last-second heroics to beat Notre Dame this year.
John David Booty passed for 265 yards and three touchdowns to Dwayne Jarrett as Southern California whipped the sixth-ranked Fighting Irish 44-24 last night and likely leapfrogged Michigan in the race for the national championship game.
Third-ranked USC contained Brady Quinn, the Irish?s Heisman Trophy contender, and put together a performance that should boost its Bowl Championship Series standing. The Trojans were a close third behind the Wolverines last week.
"I think we?re a pretty good team right now," USC coach Pete Carroll said. "We?ll play anybody, anywhere."
Should the Trojans (10-1) beat UCLA (6-5) next weekend, they?ll probably play top-ranked Ohio State in the BCS title game Jan. 8 in Glendale, Ariz. USC has beaten its crosstown rival seven straight times. And now the Trojans have won five straight against Notre Dame (10-2).
"It was really a fun night of football," Carroll said. "For the most part, we felt in command in the game. The offense was ripping, it was just an extraordinary night for Dwayne Jarrett. He made the plays great players make."
Booty, who completed 17 of 28 passes and was intercepted twice, watched from the sideline when the Trojans beat the Irish 34-31 at Notre Dame last year on Matt Leinart?s 1-yard sneak with three seconds remaining.
Jarrett, whose 61-yard reception on a fourth-and-9 play kept that final drive in South Bend alive, caught scoring passes of 9, 5 and 43 yards from Booty, who succeeded Leinart as USC?s quarterback. The 43-yarder came with 8:21 remaining and gave the Trojans a 37-17 lead.
"We didn?t win on special teams. We didn?t win on offense. We didn?t win on defense," Irish coach Charlie Weis said. "We?re fighting an uphill battle most of the night. It wasn?t very productive."
Jarrett finished with seven receptions for 132 yards and USC freshman C.J. Gable rushed for 107 yards on 20 carries.
"At the beginning of the year, we were the only ones that believed in ourselves," Jarrett said. "A lot of media guys and whoever they might be said we were going to lose, SC was struggling. We were the only ones that believed in ourselves."
USC lost 33-31 at Oregon State on Oct. 28. Since then, the Trojans have outscored their opponents 144-43.
"I think it was kind of good for us in a way; it was kind of a wake-up call," Jarrett said of the loss. "We?re so used to winning. It was a reality check for us, just to get our act together."
Quinn threw a 2-yard scoring pass to Jeff Samardzija with 3:39 left, but Brian Cushing returned the ensuing onside kickoff 42 yards to put an exclamation point on the victory.
Quinn, playing his final regular-season game, completed 22 of 45 passes for 274 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. He also rushed for 74 yards ? most of it on a 60-yard scramble in the second quarter.
The Trojans? victory before a crowd of 91,800 in Los Angeles Coliseum was their 55 th in their last 58 games. They?re 20-0 in November games under Carroll and have won 33 straight home games. The loss snapped an eightgame winning streak for Notre Dame, but the Irish still figure to play in a big-money bowl game.

These are some of the key moments that stand out for me:
Score 0-0 Time 12:16 First quarter. Brady Quinn incomplete pass on 4th & 9 from the SC 29 yard line.
Signals early a fear of being outplayed, questionable call. Gives SC momentum, and takes 3 Irish points off the board.
At 4:49 left in the 2nd quarter, the score now 21-10, 4th and 4 from the SC 46 yard line. Quinn incomplete pass.
ND gets the ball back quickly from SC and are on the SC36 yard line. Drive bogs down and Quinn puts the icing on the cake with 4th and 6 from the SC 32 yard line.
These last two are important 4th down calls, as they cost the Irish an opportunity to get further momentum going into halftime. Plus the last is a blown opportunity to convert a turnover into points.
Heisman moments? Hardly.
Great coaching and play-calling by Weis? Very doubtful, especially when one considers what calls led up to these 4th and X situations. Certainly, one thing Weis cannot be accused of, following this game, is trying to protect his Quarterback, well at least as far as his reputation is concerned.

Notre Dame is a mid tier Big Ten/ SEC team right now. Their only true tests resulted in them getting their asses handed to them. Perhaps someone needs to tell Pizza the Hut (Weis) that he needs to recruit some athletes on defense. Their defense is horrible.

As for USC, I think we'll be able to run the ball effectively against them. If you shut down Jarrett........you shut down their offense. The more this conversation evolves, the more I want to play USC.
