What the fuck do you losers care what I eat for breakfast?

Did anyone think to send him one thin mint?

No.

Cockholes.

BTW next time you see Brian Kelly give him an extra helping of "I fucking told you so" from me.

There is no undoing the Ty Willingham damage.

Is anyone else starting to think that maybe it's not the coaches that are the problem with this program?

I've had some questions what's lacking in getting the program back to point where they can at least compete with better teams. They really haven't been there since the early to mid 90s, although once in a blue moon they'll get fired up and have a pulse for a big game. Right now I think the talent should be there on the offensive side, but I've got questions on the defensive depth. The schedule is up and down from year to year, but not as tough as it used to be. Kelly should be good enough to turn it around by year 3, you can't expect to snag the best to win. The pivotal item the team has lacked is drive, killer instinct. It may be tough to get up for a team like Navy, and there were injuries, but they put up more fight against the Spartans. There was no pulse against Navy, pretty embarrassing. I expect Kelly to do a beter job motivating than his last 3 predecssors, this team should be hungry.

A big problem Notre Dame has that times have change and ND hasn't necessarily changed along with them. Some of what I'm trying to talk about was evident during last summer's BigTen expansion talk. Notre Dame used to be the only school which really marketed itself as a national school, now... well... everyone pretty much does (well, everyone who is an actual football power). Thus, one of their previous advantages (and one which was truly to their credit) has gone away or otherwise equalized.

Pair that with a generation of 20 year olds who have seen Notre Dame, not as NOTRE DAME!!! but instead as... oh... yeah... those guys... and the gold has come off the dome. This part has a lot to do with coaching, as I think most sane ND fans will confess that ND has missed on its coaches after Holtz.

I suppose my worry, if I were a ND fan, would be that Kelly is a bit of a one trick pony. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not sure I believe that - but I'd be worried about it if I was an ND fan. He certainly was a good hire when the hire was made, but ... well... Big East football doesn't seem to prepare coaches for the big time. You can be gimmicky in the BE and do quite well. Then, when you go to a more 'traditional' power....not so much. Frankly, I think alot of that has to do with a love affair with offense. But... defense proves time and time again to be the real difference maker at the high levels.

Kelly, like I said, was a good hire when it was made in my opinion. I think he's got some work to do at ND that Heavy C didn't do - and I don't think he can do it in one season. In some respects, it seems a bit like Cooper taking over at Ohio State. It took a couple of rough seasons to get his program in place. With Cooper, it was becoming a national recruiter (not that OSU never got a "national" prospect, but Coop certainly developed that area more than Bruce did, in my opinion).. with Kelly, it seems to me the bigger problem is getting a team together, rather than a collection of individuals (That is, I think Heavy C got talent... I don't think he considered whether or not that talent could actually play together).
