Bucknuts being Bucknuts.

OK, just a random thought or two. Without Northwestern the base for the conference becomes Nap Town. Champagne - Urbana is a pimple on a face of corn stalks and soybeans - powerhouse research school, but other than a hide out for Jack Lemon and Tony Curtis, not much else goin' down. I've long felt like the conference failed to take advantage of Chicago as an anchor - there should be a high stakes bowl game there every year to include the NC game, but it ain't gonna happen if NU pulls up stakes. The power of the sunbelt states tourism industry to dominate where the FCS playoffs take place will only get stronger.

This is where @ORD_Buckeye jumps in. But NU brings in almost 1 billion in research dollars and the Chicago market for subscribers. Also, if they didn't cut the cult loose after JoePa, NU is safe.

Northwestern is also a charter member of the B1G, as Vanderbilt is in the SEC.
