No, some SEC schools don't bend the recruiting rules do they?

60% of the time, it works every time.
I am sure it was purely coincidental that the two players in question that committed to Orgeron are both RB's and that McCallister would be the one there.

EDIT: Mods feel free to move this into the recruiting forum if need be, wasn't sure whether to crowd that forum or not with off-topic stuff.

<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR><TD vAlign=top><!-- begin leftcol --><!-- template inline -->OXFORD, Miss. -- The University of Mississippi has forwarded to the Southeastern Conference a report on allegations that New Orleans Saints running back Deuce McAllister came into contact with football prospects at a basketball game.

Ole Miss compliance director David Wells said McAllister, a former Rebel standout, attended the Dec. 2 Class 5A playoff game between Oak Grove and Meridian high schools. McAllister attended the game as a guest of Meridian assistant principal Sherrod Miller. Miller is a cousin of Romaro Miller, the former Ole Miss quarterback who was a teammate of McAllister.
Wells said the question appears to be whether McAllister broke NCAA rules when he came in contact near the sideline with Meridian players, including Cordera Eason and Derrick Davis. Both Eason and Davis have verbally committed to Ole Miss.

McAllister said he spoke with Wells last month after learning of rumors about him being in contact with Eason and Davis. McAllister denied any wrongdoing and said he sent a letter to the SEC explaining what took place.

"I gave a statement and said what happened," he told The Clarion-Ledger newspaper. "I'm not out there recruiting for anybody. Ole Miss isn't paying me to recruit. I'm not stupid. I know the rules."

NCAA rules prohibit former players and boosters from helping recruit prospects.

Wells would not say Wednesday if his report to the SEC included any acknowledgment of violations.

SEC officials will review the report, then decide if it warrants further review by the NCAA.

Generally, NCAA violations fall under two categories, secondary and major. Secondary violations usually result in little or no penalties. Major violations can result in harsh penalties, such as scholarship reductions, postseason bans and probation.

Eason ran for 1,934 yards and 21 touchdowns in 2005. Davis missed his senior year because of a knee injury but as a junior was a first-team All-State selection after running for 1,927 yards and 24 TDs. Both were recruited by Ole Miss, Mississippi State and other SEC schools.

Carefull throwing stones at the SEC. I'm pretty sure that santonio is going to be talking/working out with deonte thompson (top notch '07 FL reciever from dukes and holmes HS) at some point this summer. It's a stupid rule if you ask me.

There's always that "prior relationship" rule. If Santonio knew him prior to coming here, there should be no problem.

I took two of my distance runners up visit OSU in the 80s. The three of us are talking to the coach when the door opens and in steps Butch Reynolds, then the reigning world 400M champ. We shook hands and coach and Butch talked for awhile and then with us. My kids were starry eyed for weeks afterwards. I was pretty awestruck too.

Our meeting was pure coincidence I'm positive. My kids would have been good middle men on the CC team, varsity runners on the track team, but certainly not AA material.

It's an incredible tool and I'm sure it gets used everywhere.
