Ha, Notre dame any more relevant than Michigan? Me thinks not. Both programs are down from past levels of glory.

The article isn't about whether ND is more relevant than Michigan. It's about whether Michigan is relevant (which they're not).

To address your claim, though, one of ND and Michigan made the title game just two years ago, and the other hasn't been in the mix for a good 20 years now.

Notre Dame is about as relevant as Teo's girlfriend.

As for Michigan; so what was that 2006, 1 vs 2, OSU game about then? Oh, and Michigan's 1997 NC still has three years to go on the warranty before your claim holds up. Oh and Notre Dame is one and four against "irrelevant" Michigan over the last five seasons.

If you think 2012 made Notre Dame more relevant, think of what might have happened if Ohio State had been eligible.

I'll give you this, Notre Dame has won the Commanders Cup more than any other team.

For this week only until bowl season: GO BLUE!

Wish no B1G teams would put Notre Dame on their schedule. Was saddened when I heard about this.

Tough schedule for you guys that year with Texas as well. Not that we know what any team will be like in 8 years, but good name recognition.

There were reports that Ohio State probably would have been jumped by 1-loss Alabama. But even if they weren't, Notre Dame still would have been in the national championship game. As it is, I haven't ranked the national championship games by ass-beatings, but I do know that 42-14 is more of an ass-beating than 41-14 is.

I'm going to say that Michigan has only be marginally relevant in the BCS era. Losing 3 Rose Bowls in 4 years, winning one Orange Bowl because the opposing team (Alabama?) missed an extra point in overtime, and winning another Orange Bowl because your opponent was probably the worst team to ever qualify for a BCS bowl (excluding 2004 Pitt) is about all of Michigan's BCS bowl history. Notre Dame's history is only marginally better - did they even win a BCS bowl game? If not, I'd probably score that contest a "draw". Both teams qualify as once-great programs that are now wallowing in mediocrity. (Insert Mr. Burns saying "excellent!")

For this week only until bowl season: GO BLUE!

1. I root for the meteor.
2. I root for an infinite-overtime, 0-0 tie.
3. I just can't root for Michigan right now. I'll root for Purdue over Notre Dame. I'll root for Michigan State over Notre Dame. I'll root for Penn State over Notre D... wait, maybe not...

Unfunny joke that contributes nothing to the debate.

That Michigan team finished the season losing to OSU and getting trounced by USC in the Rose Bowl. Finished the season #9 in the coaches poll and #8 in the AP poll. A good season, but that's not saying a whole lot when it's your best season since 1997.

Oh, and Michigan's 1997 NC still has three years to go on the warranty before your claim holds up.

That's half a NC to you.

Oh and Notre Dame is one and four against "irrelevant" Michigan over the last five seasons.

And in the last 10, Michigan has won 6 and ND 4. Hardly a domination.

Look, I get that you hate ND, and you like Michigan much, much more. Frankly, I don't like either team and neither has performed in the past 20 years up to its historical standards. But recently ND was in the national championship game, while Michigan was recently in the B-dubbs bowl.

All of that said, the article isn't about whether ND is more relevant than Michigan. It's about whether Michigan is relevant (which they're not).
