“The weekend was perfect,” Wafle’s father David said. “For me it was several things. Getting to know Coach Day was truly a highlight. His program is just amazing. His passion for Ohio State and its traditions radiates every time he speaks.

“Also meeting and getting to know Coach Patricia. A guy who has done it at the highest level for a long time. So down to earth and easy to speak with. And really amazing to listen to him talk defense.

“To be able to meet with Coach Johnson several times was just special. It was great to hear, in specific detail, his plans and goals for Luke. His words carry so much weight.”

Ohio State definitely was landing Luke Wafle yesterday afternoon. Without a shred of doubt.

As Steve reported last night, things got interested as USC did not back down and came in with a new NIL package—trust me when I say this is very aggressive.

Ohio State has been swinging back and doing everything they can, but there is no doubt that USC will have the bigger offer at the end of the day. OSU feels they’re competitive for a player of Wafle’s caliber, but this decision will end up coming down to what’s more important at the end of the day—is it just largest offer or will other factors play a role in the decision?

I am told that neither school has been informed of a final decision ahead of the 2 PM ET announcement. A lot can change in the next 5-6 hours, and Luke is still Wafle-ing a bit (bad dad joke intended).

The Trojans definitely have a lot of momentum last night and even into this morning checking in with sources here in The Garden State. We will see if OSU can swing momentum back their way or even delay an announcement should things not look great.

USC is certainly looking like 2022 aTm with approaching 30 commits in just mid June
