BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Chris Warren scored five of his 22 points during a 9-0 second-half run last night and Mississippi beat Virginia Tech 81-72 in the NIT quarterfinals to earn a trip to Madison Square Garden in New York.
The Rebels will face Ohio State in one semifinal. Florida and Massachusetts will meet in the other.
Ole Miss (24-10) led 51-49 with 10:49 left before Warren's layup sparked the burst. He added a three-pointer, Eniel Polynice hit a jumper and Kenny Williams made a layup to cap the spurt, which gave the Rebels a 60-49 lead with 8:22 left.

NEW YORK ? The Florida men's basketball team that Massachusetts will meet in tonight's NIT semifinals looks little like the one that won last year's NCAA tournament.
Ditto for runner-up Ohio State, which plays Mississippi in tonight's other semifinal at Madison Square Garden.
"If you take the amount of players in the national championship last year that are now in NBA uniforms ... It's not a path either team expected to take.
The youthful Gators started 18-3 and had everybody momentarily forgetting first-round picks Al Horford, Corey Brewer and Joakim Noah, and second-round selections Taurean Green and Chris Richard. And it's not what the Buckeyes, without departed draft picks Greg Oden, Mike Conley Jr. and Daequan Cook, were expecting when they beat Michigan State in their regular-season finale.
